As for Table Preference on the Dream, the options are:
  • Near a window
  • Quieter location
  • Near a screen for entertainment
  • Private table
  • Near the dining room center
We don't care about Private Table so I chose Near a Screen, which I think matters only in Animator's Palette. "Near a window" might be good for a view but I'm not sure if we'd miss out on entertainment with that choice. Ditto "quiet location". What preferences do others have (other than private), and why?

I put near a window for my upcoming cruise on The Dream. This will be my second time on the dream. Last year I chose private table and I was by the screen at Animator's Palette. As Ive already had a good view of that, Im not bothered if I dont for this cruise. Both Royal Palace and Enchanted Garden have windows. The table I was assigned at Royal Palace I didnt like, it was near the door and in a high traffic area. I had the same table for breakfast on debarkation day. I had a window table at Enchanted Garden and I liked that.

I have main early dining, so it will be daylight during my meal.

When are you sailing and what seating do you have? A table by a window might just be more like looking at a window if it's dark outside then.

We choose private table as my main and only request. If I did not request that I would probably go for a quieter location. I am not a fan of the hoopla that goes along with the dinner shows and just want to be left alone to enjoy my meal.

Yes, that lightbulb lit after the previous reply. We're on late seating in November. Rules out "near a window", so we'll stick with the current choice of "near a screen".

My choice: Near a window - I usually have early seating and enjoy evening light.

Near a screen (AP) might put me too close to the screens; a little farther out (which how the rest of the tables could be described) usually have a view of multiple screens around the room. Drawback - you lose the possibility of interacting with Crush. But not everyone gets to, anyway.

Quieter location. 🤣 In a giant room full of talking and dinner service. Actually, I do find the window seats to be quieter. By a few decibels.

And dining room center - again, noise.

Honestly, I probably have been seated in all the options. And at table locations that no longer exist.

If there are mobility or sensory overload issues, maybe request quiet or window.

(Because, yeah, we request private table).

"Near a screen" worked out great:

Animators Palette with screens around the room showing underwater Finding Nemo scenes. Then here comes Crush who looks at me and says “Yo! Dude with gray algae on his chin, what’s your name?” I’m mid-bite so say “Sidney” all garbled up. “Yo didn’t catch that”. I’m chewing as fast as I can so I can repeat, and he says “Keep on chewing, keep on chewing, keep on chewing…” like Finding Nemo. Fun stuff.

I requested "quiet location" last time and we ended up with a screen RIGHT AT our table in Animators. :) It was distracting, but for two nights it wasn't too bad. In Royal we had a decent location and in Enchanted we were way back in a corner and it was difficult to get in and out of our table. We did get seated with another couple so we were at a four top only, except in Enchanted it was a six top.

Our last DCL cruise left from San Juan. The tables next to the screens had people that only spoke spanish and Crush had a hard time finding someone to converse with. I didn't realize until the last evening when our server explained why our assistant was MIA a lot - he spoke spanish and was the only server able to converse with them. Poor Crush didn't have a person to converse with so he ended up leaving a bit early from our area.

I wonder which would be best for "as far away from all the hoopla in the Coco place as possible" when I do go on the Treasure. There is a lot to experience on the ship, but all the family family family in there feels very off-putting to me as a solo traveler (plus I was never that enamored with the movie to begin with). Honestly I'll likely skip both nights in there, but I'd hate to be at a prime table when a group who really wants to be in the action was off to the side.

Oh gosh. I’m a first time cruiser and didn’t know we could put in a dining request. This thread has been really helpful……where do I request this?? TIA

In the app and on the website there's a section for special requests where you can request solo dining and other things. TBH, my experience with that request method is poor. I've had success in calling DCL and making the request there (understanding that it's only a request).
