My DS is going on the Magic with a group of 20 and they all want to sit together. She just got off the phone w/her ta and he told her that they cannot have 1 table of 20. I could swear that I have read on these boards that it is possible? Maybe have her speak w/Debbie in dining? Your input would be appreciated...thank you:bounce:

I remember seeing a table as soon as we walked into each restraunt with I bet 20 people sitting at it, if not it was at least 15.

The largest tables that I remember seeing are those that can seat 12. (I could have missed something though.)

However, I don't think that they'll be able to accomodate a table for twenty! That table would be huge!

The largest we saw was table for 12 in Nov 2003 ... and frankly for our Aug 2005 repo cruise, I'm kinda hoping our group of 23 (and growing!!) does NOT sit all at the same table ... I just want us all in the same dining rotation and in the same area/section of the restaurant. :teeth:

The largest table I've seen was for 12. I think you'd be better off with two or three (possibly four) tables in the same section. I would think any table larger than 12 would be very difficult for your server & assistant server considering the fact that they also serve other tables as well. Personally, I'd prefer several tables that way your party could rotate amongst yourselves. HTH

They definately handle 14 but above that may be tricky. We had that large table in the center of each dining room and there were 14 of us....it was actually too large and you could not hold a conversation with anyone at the other end.

We would up switching places each night so we could converse with different friends each night.

We have had a group of 16 on another DCL cruise and we had 2 tables of 8 next to each other which also worked out fine.

We had a table for 15 on our cruise and to be honest it didn't seem very large. What I mean is that it wasn't in the way of the other tables, servers or other guests. Call DCL directly and see what they can do.

When we walked past Lumiere's two nights on our cruise there was a table that definantly held over 20 people. They had pushed a bunch of tables together along the window.

We just got back. We have 20. We had 2 tables wuth 10. Right next to each other. We had the same server and ***. server. It work out well we could still interact. If we were at a long table for 20 you would have people very far at the other end of table. Instead of turning around to say something. We had a great time with all of our family. Brenda

Whoops, I ment to put Asst server on the above post and I think I miss spelled a word and wrote a bad one. Sorry. I should check my spelling a little better before I post. Brenda

We're a group of 16 and our TA said DCL will accomodate all of us together at one table. She also went on to say they can go up to 20 and she's had groups that large who sat together.

ultimately I think it's up to the maitre'd ... he's the one that does table assignments ... on our cruise last Nov the maitre'd moved a party of two clear across the dining room to a table with other people, instead of keeping them with their group (which was a sizeable group at multiple tables) ... your TA can make the request on your behalf and it's probably accommodated whenever possible, but I don't think the TA can guarantee anything since he/she isn't the final word on the subject.

We were at a table for 18.

Each server handles 20-25 guests, depending on how full the ship is.....generally, a group of 20 is broken into 2 tables of 10 with the same server in the same area. You can vary your "chair" assignments each night, and move between the 2 tables as you wish.

They definately handle 14 but above that may be tricky. We had that large table in the center of each dining room and there were 14 of us....it was actually too large and you could not hold a conversation with anyone at the other end.

We've had this exact situation. There were 5 different families and none of us knew each other before the cruise. We had a great time. We switched around where we sat each evening so everyone would be able to get to meet the other people at the table.
and ***. server
Gotta make sure you have a "t" in assistant:earseek:. Loved that first post:jester:

Thank you so very much for all of your responses!!! I am going to forward all this info to my DS and let them make their decision! Thanx again for coming thru! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
