Table in Wonderland Question

Okay quick question. We have at least 11 people for almost every meal we are doing during our trip in January. Table in Wonderland says you can use it for up to 10 people, if I get it after getting an annual pass does that meal it discounts the 10 people and that people 11+ don't get the discount, or does it mean that no one gets the discount?

I am trying to figure out if it is worth getting. If the first 10 people get the discount and they don't discount 11+ it is probably more then worth it, if no one gets it, obviously it is not worth it.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I did a search and didn't see the question.

It says: "The Tables in Wonderland discount is good for up to 10 people including the member, as long as everyone is on the same check, and the Tables in Wonderland member is paying the bill." So I read it as you can pay for 10 people on one check with TIW and then the others would simply be on a separate check. Hopefully, someone can chime in to actually confirm my interpretation. Note: If you and your DH both get APs and TIW (and live at the same address) you are allowed to cover people 11-20 also.

The biggest thing to keep in mind, in my opinion, is that you would have to pay the restaurant for all of these people. If you're planning on treating them to meals, no problem. If you would need to collect payment from them after, things can get tricky depending on your group, if somebody didn't bring their check book, if you don't have the right change, etc. Just wanted to clarify since the 10 people don't "get the discount"; you get the discount when paying for 10 people.

It is us, my sister's family and my parents that make up the group most of the time, and my Mom was planning on paying for everyone. I have no doubt it would be easy to get the money from her afterwards, that isn't a major issue. We won't have a huge have to get a payment from everyone thing, since everyone in the group is family members my Mom would be covering anyways.

That sounds great then! I was just concerned when I saw how you worded the discount stuff and thought about what a nightmare that would be with some families or friends. :scared1: Or if you didn't have the funds/credit to cover the big dining bills until getting paid back. :scared:

As long as you understand that the TiW card holder would be paying the server for the 10 ppl using the TiW entitlement. The server doesn't want to see cash coming to you from ppl in your group, or multiple credit cards given to you. It has to look as though the TiW card holder is solely handling payment for the 10 ppl. You and your family can settle up before -- or after -- your meal. You'll receive an itemized receipt for food and drinks.

Yep that isn't an issue, no one would be paying me or passing me cash at the meal. I won't even need the itemized receipts. The biggest issue is, can I use it if we have 11 or 16 people there. Will it just count 10 and ignore the other 6 as far as the discount goes? As long as I get the 10 discounted each time (and it doesn't take the cheapest 10), we are great, I just want to make sure that if we end up with 16 people there that it will still work on 10 of them.

Yes, It will work on ten as long as you are one of the ten and you pay for all ten. The other six will pay separately

It may be worth it to get a 2nd card for $50... This will cover 11-20 people. So if you have 11 or 16 like you said then they'll also get the discount..If it's going to be just that 1 extra person (#11) then you'll have to determine how many meals you'll be eating and do the math...

Eg. If you're going to be eating 5 meals @ $50 a person -20% discount that's a $10 savings..There's your $50 for the card..And roughly your break even point. Any more meals then the 5 or at more expensive places, than there's your savings on your 2nd card.

HTH.

Thanks you very much, that was what I needed to know. Now to figure out if we are making our second trip this year or not. Since if we are this now makes a ton of sense.

Thanks, it will normally be 11 people and 5 of them are kids, and there are only 5 Disney meals with all those people at either breakfast or lunch. So 1 card makes sense and will easily pay for itself, the second card won't do enough to justify it. We will get use out of it for the other two meals with smaller numbers too, but those meals are either just 2 or 5 people, so we won't need the extra card for them.

NP, just giving you options....

1 other thing possibly that can save you $$ is if you have an AP....Some restaurants offer 10% discount...Obviously not as many, but there may be 1 or 2 that you go to that might honor this..:confused3

Thanks, that is worth remembering, though most likely I will be the only one with an AP, though my husband might get one too. We are the only family in the party likely to go back a second time within the year.
