Table for 3 but not 2 or 4?

I'm wondering how there could be availability for 3 but not 2 or 4...specifically looking at Topolino's where I believe most of the tables/booths are for 2 or 4 or greater. Struck me as very odd.

It’s just programming for max revenue. They’d rather have a group of 4 at the table that seats up to 4 than a group of 3. And there are commonly tables max capacity 2 so the fire availability for 2. If you don’t see what you need just book for a bigger group and drop the size at check-in. Nobody will give you an issue (if mobile check in works you can do it yourself in the app).

I know the trick of going higher and showing up with less people. Actually 3 is what I always start off looking for and when I tried the even number game I noticed both 2 and 4 had no availability. Based on what you're saying why would they want to put a group of three at a four top. And like you said you can't squeeze three into a two top. It's very odd and the first time I've come across this anomoly in all these years of ADRs.

It could be a bunch of reasons. Capacity of the restaurant, fire regulations, Disney IT, and some restaurants do actually have 3 tops. I know for sure ‘Ohana has them and they can’t be the only restaurant. I have never seen them put 3 at a 2 top, I would not want to be at a 2 top at Chef de France with 3 people. Those tables are tiny and close together.

I’ll more than likely be at Topolinos soon and you bet I’ll be walking around the restaurant looking for those oddly shaped tables looking like a crazy person lol

lol I only know because a man flipped out that DH and I were getting a window seat at ‘ohana and he had kids with them so why would 2 adults get the fireworks view. The manager kept explaining we were 2 people at a 3 top and he couldn’t put his family of 4 at a 3 top. It was a whole to do. Every time DH or I left the table he would send his kids over to stand on our chair to see the castle. A manager finally had to ask them to leave.

Whoa that's insane but very on brand for Disney World attendees these days unfortunately. And ok you have literal first hand knowledge of a 3 top that's good enough for me lol!

This is a problem for my party of two. I made the ADR for a larger party and than modify. It always works.

Maybe Topolinos has a random 3 top somewhere?
Ate there yesterday and looked like a crazy person asking the hostess this exact question and the answer is NO! There is no 3 top! I brought up the anomoly I saw and they had no clue why that would be. I just knew there was something off about it. The reservation problem aside, Topolino's is still great for breakfast and had a very lovely time as usual.
