Is it really hard for big parties to get in unless it's on the 180 day mark?

My MIL was thinking of doing a trip with the whole family towards the end of April, we'd have anywhere from eight to ten people. We haven't done this for a while, so I'm not sure if we'll have a hard time booking dinner. We're more the types who will book dinner only a month or two in advance, DH is a fly by the seat of his pants kind of guy. We may have to get ADRs at the 180 day mark, but I'm just not sure about booking dinner that far in advance since we may not even have our trip booked. We'll probably eat dinner a few times without the big group anyway, but a few family dinners would be nice.

Thanks!

I have done it before with 14 evey year when my whole family would go. You need to get all the info book the trip get a Grand Gathering # find out where you want to eat each day and be ready at 7:00 am on the 180 day mark.
If you do all that you should be fine. I always was.

Disney will begin booking 90 day advance reservations for anyone traveling to the World after 01/09. Where you are going in April, you will only be able to book 90 days out from the first day of your vacation. For a large party, yes, I would suggest booking around that time.

I booked at 7:00am at my 180 (party of 11) and was still split into smaller tables for many of the restaurants.

Oh yeah! Forgot that She's right it's 90 days starting In January -09

Boy am I relieved, three months is much better! :goodvibes

We probably won't have even decided whether or not we want to this six months ahead of time, let alone where we want to eat. 90 days is doable.

If we do do this, do you think we'd be okay in April (last week) getting in at sig restaurants?

We went to WDW in early June with 9 in our party (7 adults and 2 babies-the babies being 2 years old). We booked only 5 dining reservations and only one time were we split up (at the Plaza Restaurant). At each of the other restaurants, we were either at big round tables or long rectangle tables. Make sure you make your reservations early enough so that you can eat together; otherwise you will definitely be split up. Each restaurant only has so many large tables to accommodate large parties.

NOT TRUE. The 90 day window is only while they switch over to the new dining system. After that its back to 180.
