when bringing a child with allergies ....do you guys wipe down the table with something or put a place mat on the table for your child....just curious upcoming trip with child with milk and peanut allergies...

My child does not have food allergies, but he has immuno issues. We wipe the table and his chair with clorox wipes and then I place one of those sticky plastic throw away mats they make for toddlers in his place. If you decide to do this no one will really notice and the wait staff sees it often so they will think nothing of it. If that will offer better protection for your child from allergens then I say go for it.

I'd go for disposable mats, because the backside of the mat is coming into contact with the allergens. Clorox wipes can cause some nasty reactions for people with allergies/asthma, so I'd avoid using them for little kids.

using a scented wipe could cause a reaction for someone at a close by table. yes i would be having to be moved away because of your scented wipe. i would use the mat but be prepared to not be able to use the wipe.

I use sensitive skin wet ones wipes to wipe down everything. They are also what I use to wipe my hands before eating. Honestly,I thought about the scent issue but these really have no scent. I would know because anything with a noticeable scent sets off my asthma and there are many contact allergens (including parabens and lanolin) that will give me hives so I am pretty confidentthesewipes are okay to use.

So my suggestion is if you want to use wipes, these, ought be a good choice. We get the at target.you can get them in individual packs or you can get packages of 15 wipes.

I also use wipes. They are easy to carry and discard. I wipe the chairs sometimes too. When my DD was little I would bring a small blanket for her to sit on. You can always put a few napkins down as a placemat too.

I use pampers unscented sensitive wipes because I'm allergic to most forms of alcohol. If I'm at a QS, I'll wipe off the cutlery that comes from those dispensers. I also tend to avoid getting napkins after seeing several kids pull out too many napkins and shove the unwanted ones back in the dispenser.
