TA Suggests New Documents??

DW and our DD's are heading out without me (yes, they all shed one tear) on their seventh DCL Cruise.

TA Notes enclosed stated that...

1. Women need a copy of marriage license to compare to birth certificate.

2. Since I am not going, I need to provide her with written consent to take the kiddies out of the country.

Never heard of either requirement - any thoughts?

She does not need her marriage license. They will check her photo id and compare the birth date to the one on her birth certificate. No where in the DCL documents does it state that a married female (or anyone who has changed their name) would need a document such as a marriage license to state that. I have never been asked for such a document and neither has my mother or SIL.

In the documents there will be a place for the parent or legal guardian to sign. Since your wife if the parent of the child, she will need nothing else. The only time DCL needs something like that notarized is when the parent or legal guardian are not traveling with the minor child and then the notarized form is needed.

IMHO - the only time I think a parent would need a letter to travel with their own child is if there is a divorce or custody issue and you think that the other parent may cause problems or contact local authorities on you.

TA is probably being overly cautious due to ever-shifting security levels. I will be on the Wonder, July 17, and am bringing my marriage certificate just in case. I almost surely will not need it, but since I have to bring my birth certificate and picture id anyway, what's one more piece of paper to carry? Anything that might help me get on board more quickly!

Just make sure your driver's license is current! Mom (74) had a problem at the Indy airport because her's had expired a few days before. Fortunately, I had her passport (current).
Never can be too careful!!!
