T-Shirt Design Help

I am going to attmept to make some matching shirts for my familys January trip to Disney. I have never made one so I am not sure where to start. We recently joined DVC so I wanted something that has to do with DVC. Our home resort is Animal Kingdom Lodge. So if anyone can help me design something cool that would be great. But once I get a design do I just print it onto transfer paper and then transfer it?
