Is this restaurant really hard to get for a dinner reservation?

I'm almost six-months out and it is showing up very busy for a Wednesday dinner in late Aug.

Thank you for the information! It seemed crazy to me this far out!

Better yet if you have time before your trip go to Landrysinc webpage and signup for the Landry's Select club. It usually takes about 10 days to get your card in the mail.
Pay a one-time $25 enrollment fee, and receive a $25 welcome reward you can use on your first visit. You also get a $25 Birthday Reward every year on your birthday and a $25 Reward for Every $250 you spend. Here is the best part. You get what they call Priority Seating. This gets you in any time without a reservation, usually within 10 minutes no matter how busy they are. We have this card and it's great. It also works at both the Rain Forest Cafes and Yak & Yeti in AK. The last time we went to T-REX was on a Friday night and we did not have reservations. I overheard the hostess tell the group in front of me that it would be a 2 hour wait to get in without a reservation. When i got up to the hostess i showed her my Landry's Select card and we were sitting at a table 5 minutes later. Like i said it works at all 4 Landry's restaurants in Disney and if you are going anyway you will get your initial investment of $25 back. The Priority Seating alone is worth getting the card.

Great tip! We are also planning to do Rainforest and Yak and Yeti.

Thanks for that tip. We always visit TRex during our Disney trips! We love it but even with a ressie, we've had long waits. Dh's birthday will earn us another $25 reward before we go!

They also don't validate your birthday. So if you're going in November for example, you can say that's your birthday and get the credit for your trip. You just won't get the next one of course till the following November. It was actually an employee there that recommended it to set it up this way before I was local.

Not to hijack the thread but what is the wait generally like at T-Rex for lunch? Say around 12:30p?

The line of people waiting at TRex around noon was ridiculously long. I can't speak to the wait time but that line was huge.
The Landry's Select Club worked out very well. We arrived for our 2pm ressie at 1:30 and were seated within 5 minutes. (the line was about half the size of the noon crowd)

Shhhhhhhh, quit giving out the secret. :p

I can't even tell you how many rewards we've had... we've spent a ridiculous amount of money at Landry's, because every time we have family or friends in town, the T-Rex is typically where we take them. We've had parties of 2, and parties of 8, walk up, flash the card, and I think maybe, maybe our longest wait was 20 minutes, but it's typically closer to 5 or 10. Best $25 ever, not spent (since they give the $25 back in credit on your next visit).

I hope it's ok to ask a question within the question of the thread, but if you book through Disney on the dining plan, could you call direct to switch to an earlier time that wasn't available online and still use the ding plan?

FWIW, that's not how priority seating has EVER worked for us, even at our local (now closed) RFC.

It's a fast link to get into the line to BE seated. The first time we went to Trex, that line-for-the-hostess was still well over 20 minutes long.

I have been send TO that line inside of 5 minutes (for trex and rfc) but the line to get to the host/ess can still take some time.

And I really dislike the feeling of cutting that checkin line, LOL. I do it, but I hate it.

Yes, anyone with or without the dining plan can call the restaurant and make a reservation directly. Just remember to cancel the one you made via the Disney dining reservation site.

yes in fact I never book this thru Disney with the dining plan. I always call direct to book

You can get a different time by calling the restaurant, but it will not change your time via My Disney Experience or show in MDE. You will have two reservations.

Dining plan is just a payment method. It does not matter how you book the reservation. If you rebook direct, make sure you cancel the reservation you made through Disney or you'll be charged for missing it.
