A friend suggested T REX to us. We have 5 and 6 yo boys who like Dinosours. I know it is not included on DDP, but I think the boys might like it? Any thoughts? Do they accept Disney giftcards?

I made the ressie, as we will be in DTD that night anyway (we were going to go to EOS or WP Cafe), but thought I'd see what you all had to say.

Is there a gift shop? I have a Lawandrys (I know I killed the spelling) GC, can it be used here?

TIA!

I used a Landry's gift card that I got from MyPoints at T-Rex last month. :thumbsup2 My family had a great time. The food was very good and our server was excellent! There is a gift shop and they have a Build-A-Dino area, too. (Think Build-A-Bear, but dinosaurs.)

Have fun! :goodvibes

Thanks for hte quick response! I have a $25gc someone gave me and will probably check out for another $25 from MP before then (or $50 if I can make it. I have the points for the $25 right now, but may wait as our trip is 6 mo away)!!!!!!!!!

I think the boys will LOVE this place! And now I liek it more since I have a GC for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the reviews I read were mixed on the food and service, what did you think?

We went last April with twin boys who were 6, they loved it. The food is pricey, but they loved looking all around, we went early when there were not many people, so they walked all over without bothering anyone. There is a big storm every so often just like at Rainforest (I think it is like a meteor shower). It is kind of loud, gets dark, lights flash, the dinos roar and move, didn't bother my kids at all. There is a gift shop with a "build a dinosaur" just like build a bear. Of course,I came home with dinosaurs complete with an outfit. I did know about this beforehand, and was ready for the "I need a dinosaur", we put some of their Disney money back for it. I don't know about the gift card, but your kids will like it. We took lots of pictures and sat in a huge booth set in the belly of a big dinosaur.

We really enjoyed our food! To start we ordered the Melalosaurus Mozzarella as an appetizer. This was tasty! It was two different kinds of mozzarella. They had some of the fried mozzarella sticks and then this melted mozzarella with some sort of sauce on it. Very good! For entrees I tried the T-Rexadillas without chicken. This is an appetizer, but it was definitely entree sized! It was very, very good! If we were headed back to our resort, I would have taken it to go. My husband ordered the Stegosaurus Steak and Cheese Sandwich with waffle fries and my son had the Bronto Burger with waffle fries. Both of them were very pleased with what they ordered. The size of the entrees were huge, so we had no room left for dessert. Maybe next time!

Ask to sit in the Ice Caves when you go. We sat right outside of them and wished we could have traded seats. :)

Just make sure you make your reservations soon! I've tried to book it several months in advance before, and there were no spots left!

All 3 of my party thought the food was TERRIBLE when we ate there last November. It would be in my top three worst meals at Disneyworld. Even my not picky daughter thought the kids meal chicken fingers were nasty. However, we were glad we tried it once. Fun theming. We were seated in the Ice Cave and it WAS neat. Warning though--it did get pretty loud when the meteor crashes and some smaller children were scared.

Good to know about the Ice Caves. That does sound cool. We have a reservation our first night in town and I think they were going to put us in the coral reef room or something like that? I'll call them! DS is excited already, LOL.

Thanks for all the replies. I booked it for 5pm on our Water Park day (I think Wednesday). I fugure we will not be at the Water PArk all day, so we will have time to change. I think the boys will like the theming and since I have a GC it really helps!!!!!!

Thanks all!

I took my sons last year with low expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised by the place, both the theming & quality of the food & service. Kids had a blast, made a dino @ the workshop (owned by Build A Bear). Price was reasonable, nice selection of items. The place does seem to hold bacsome tables from the ADR system, so if you don't find availability at the time you wish, try calling/emailing directly.

DH and I went to the bar area for drinks and apps and we really enjoyed it. The BBQ chicken flatbread was really yummy!

careful about the gift cards though. You can use Landry gc in the restaurant and the front half of the store. You may not use them in the Build A Dino part. So be prepared to spend cash if your kids will be making their own dino.

We went there the year it openned up. The food is pretty much the same as Rainforest Cafe. Everyone enjoyed their food, I can't remember any complaints. My son loved Dinosaurs as well (my oldest was 4, my youngest only 1 so although he loved looking around and seeing everything he was a little young to know what was going on). Anyway, it is a really cool place. It does get dark when the meteor "hits" depending on where you are sitting. The colors of the lights change and it can be a little loud in there at times. But walking around it is awesome. They also have a gift shop that is pretty neat and a little "waiting" area/play area where they can dig in the sand and try to find fossels, which my boys really liked.
It is def worth at least one visit. Have fun

where is trex? I tried to look for the menu on allears and couldn't find it!

Last week we went!! We all loved it!! Adults and kids (3&6) were all very impressed!! Have fun!

T REX is in DTD..the menu is on all ears, look on DTD resturants!

Now I'm excited to go! Is build a Dino owned by Build a Bear? The boys have gift cards to BAB I could save until then...hmmm!

Yes, it's Build-a-Dino, by Build-a-Bear. :) Here's a look at their website, so you know what to expect. My husband made a stegosaurus for our daughter while we were there in February. Too cute! It's not on the website, though.

we went in Jan. My 4 kids loved it (10/8/6/4). The food was very good and the service was amazing. The kids loved the theme of the resturant as well. Im sure your family will have a blast
