T REx

IMO quality of atmosphere - fabulous, service - fabulous, food - mediocore at best, price for mediocore food = expensive.

We just came back from the world and tried t-rex. It was expensive but the portions were huge. My husband and I split the boneyard buffet for 26.99. It was ribs, half a rotissierre chicken and two sides. Way too much food for one person. In fact, we ate until we hurt and still took home ribs, two pieces of chicken and a mountain of fries.

The kids meals were high too. My son had a slider and fries for like 8 bucks. Overall the food was not as good as the rainforest cafe, IMO. My suggestion... share something.

Completely agree!!

It is comparable to other Disney restaurants - price wise, but the portions are huge. We simple ordered only 2 meals for the 4 of us and we couldn't even eat it all (and we are all big eaters). Our bill, with tip, came to about $60. Not too bad for Disney and we were all full. Both of my children absolutely loved the atmosphere. It is worth experiencing at least once.

Ditto on the expense. The portions are really big. We sat right next to the fish tank and had a great view of the ice cave. We went once and really do not need to go back. Not a bad experience, just pricey for what it is. We had a pasta dish and the omnivore salad (Huge!) and a few drinks. It came to $80.

In our opinion it is comparable to anything at Disney, and very much like Rainforest in price, food, and atmosphere.

I'm well used to paying Disney prices, and the cost of dinner at T-Rex shocked me. Yes, the portions are big, but the food is mediocre - typical chain restaurant stuff, at best. My salad was fine, but my friend felt his fish tacos were very poorly prepared, and didn't finish them.

For one dinner salad, one order of fish tacos, and two sodas, the bill came to $50 with tip. For that, I expect something better than Applebee's/TGIFriday's food. Yes, I know that you're paying for the theming, but to me, it wasn't that impressive. I like RFC's theming better. I won't be going back.

I think it depends on what you have. My meal was excellent and so was the rest of my families meals. It was a little high but to be honest, what isnt high at Disney? We loved it and enjoyed the food MUCH better than RFC... we thought the menu was better and food was WAY better. I will be making this stop again.

Question about T-Rex... We are on the DDP, so expense isn't too much a concern of mine. My concern is more the noise and the atmosphere- is it a fun atmosphere and how much noise are we talking about? My FIL will be with us this next trip over Labor Day and he already has hearing difficulties and we have to speak up for him to hear us, and if we have to compete with a LOT of background noise, I'm afraid this restaurant may not work for us. So, can anyone tell me more about the atmosphere & noise level? Thanks in advance!

I can't answer your question about noise, b/c we haven't been there, but I can tell you that T-Rex is NOT covered on the DDP. You will have to pay out of pocket if you eat there. --Katie

What, what, what?! You're breaking my heart- I really wanted to give this a go... Boo hiss! :sad2: Thanks for the info, I will take my DDP business elsewhere! :snooty:

Thanks ekatiel! :flower3:

I had also looked at going to t-rex while there but after printing out the menu to go ahead and see what we want, DH has totally closed the book on us going. We are on the QSDP for our first trip to WDW and are already paying OOP for CP for our princess:DD's 5th birthday. He said that alone is gonna cost us what a party at home would have and has said he is putting his foot down on this. He is an accountant and wants to stay on a tight budget b/c he said the cost of the trip and airfare are enough. Geez we have paid cash for this entire trip can't he just loosen up. Maybe the magic of disney:wizard: will hit him when we get there and I don't have to cx the lunch ressie I already have for t-rex.

I went to Trex in January and was totally disappointed. The Restaurant is really well themed, but it is PAINFULLY loud and the food was terrible. I would suggest stopping by to check it out if you are in Downtown Disney and even get a drink at the bar (Probably the coolest theming of the whole place) But don't bother spending the money on food.

I know what you mean, my Dad has the same problem in noisy restaurants.

Unfortunately, T-Rex is very, very noisy. I don't mind the background noise at RFC, but it's annoying at T-Rex. It makes conversation difficult, even for those without hearing problems.

Another option is to just do appetizers. We were on the deluxe dining plan when we went in December. I really wanted DS to experience T Rex but thought it was silly to pay out of pocket when we already had 3 meals per day. We just went for lunch and did appetizers and drinks and then used our extra dining plan credit to do a signature restaraunt one night. We shared the nachos and something else and really enjoyed it.

What about upgrading to the regular dining plan- that way you get 1TS, 1QS, 1Snack per night, per person. Not sure of the price difference, we've only ever used the regular dining package. Maybe it's an option- this way you get to try some table service places (although T-Rex would still not be included), like Character meals- Crystal Palace, Garden Grill, Donald's Safari Breakfast and Chef Mickey's are some of our favorite character meals that we almost always go to while on the DDP... Good Luck with DH!

Thanks for the suggestion but my two girls won't sit long enough for a sit down meal. They always have ants in their pants even to be as old as they are. We did look at the regular DDP though and Dh wanted the QS to give us some leeway about when we eat. we eat at odd times. Thanks again though, I love help anytime I can get it.
