We have our T Rex ADRs. Anyone care to tell me how the food is? Also, will 2 and 1/2 year olds be scared?

Have the kids ever been to a Rainforest Cafe? If they can handle that, they'll be fine at T-Rex. It's essentially a re-decorated RFC, with dinos instead of gorillas, and (loud) meteor showers instead of (loud) thunderstorms.

Food..hard to say. I had a salad that was fine, my friend had fish tacos that he didn't like at all and didn't finish, and he didn't feel well for the rest of the evening.

Prices are simply outrageous. I'm used to paying Disney prices, I understand that prices are high in any vacation destination, and normally I couldn't care less. But for 1 dinner salad, 1 order of fish tacos, and two sodas, the bill came to $50 with the tip. For basic chain-restaurant food, I thought that was way the heck out of line.

I thought it was great, both the atmosphere and the food. If you like BBQ ribs, try those for sure! They're amazing!

We have ate at Rainforest many times. My 3 year old son was so scared we could not eat. The dinos look real not friendly. Literally all the toddlers in the place where hiding under their parents armpits. Not how I wanted to spend a meal so we left and found something else. It is a pretty cool place but very real to a toddler.

We are two adults who tried it in December. I agree with the previous poster who said that it was scarier than Rainforest Cafe. Definitely more intimidating for young children and very loud. We liked our food. DBF had the fish tacos and enjoyed them. I had the Paleozoic Chicken Sandwich which was very good and much more than I need to eat. Service was not great. Apparently the kitchen forgot about our order so we were there longer than we needed to be. By the time we left we were both happy to get out of the noise.
Bottom line...we chalked it up to an interesting experience but won't be back.

We went in December and sat in the water room section. It was great there! No scary dinos but you can walk around see them if you want to. I would definitely recommend that section if you think it may be a problem for him. That is the farthest section from the dinos. It's really pretty there!!! We (me, DD17, and DDs BFF) loved it!!

When you say ADR, did you make the reservation through Disney, or by calling T Rex directly? Last I'd heard, T Rex might open up for direct reservations in January. I was getting ready to call them to see if they had started. But your post has me wondering if we can book through the ADR system? Thanks!

I read in another post of people now making ADR's, and they called t-rex, not disney dining. Reservation # I believe was your last name. I also believe U could make ADR up to 6 months in advance.

Yes you can now make reservations with T-rex with them directly not with Disney ADR. I just got a res for next week.

We ate at T Rex last night. Our experience was a complete surprise based on everything I had heard here. We got there about 9 pm and were able to walk right in. We were seated in the aquarium room and our server was Matt Belle. Our group consisted of DH, Myself, and DS 11, 4 & 3.

Normally, I hate Rainforest Cafe so I was eating here strictly for my kids. They loved it! They weren't scared and they seemed to settle in with no issues. As for the prices, our meals, with alcoholic drinks was still less than our lunch at Tokyo Dining earlier in the day...I thought that was great!

Our server was absolutely the best server we have had at Disney Property in years. Drinks were never empty, food was correct, hot and perfect. All requests were handled quickly and I believe our server went above and beyond to make our visit perfect. At one point I mentioned that I wished my salad had more goat cheese on it, he returned just moments later with an entire cup of goat cheese and it never appeared on the bill.

So, if your considering T Rex in the near future, give it a chance...ask for Matt, and enjoy the surprise!
