Please help us decide. Have been to Rainforest several times. Kids are 16 and 17. We agree that the meal isn't fantastic, but theming is fun, and at least everyone can find something on the menu. Son pretty much sticks with burgers, daughter is a vegetarian. This is her Sweet sixteen birthday trip, so a Volcano is a sure win. We have not tried T-Rex yet, and thought maybe that would be a good substitute. I actually used their bathroom last trip (don't ask), and the interior of the restaurant looked really neat.
Any reviews of meals, menus for vegetarians, desserts, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Its hard taking the chance of the unknown on a new restaurant, thanks again! Jane:goodvibes

Neither one have ever really impressed me. T-Rex would probably get the nod but there are SO many other great restaurants there in DTD. Ragland Road, Portobello, heck...even Earl of Sandwich would rank over RFC or T-Rex in my book.

You can view good part of t rex menu on all ears. I couldn't tell u last time I ate at RFC but I love T rex and personally have taken tude of RFC is in a lot of places T rex is only in 2 right now and I really enjoy food here.

I will say the portion sizes r dino sized, BFF and I frequently split meals here. I can't really commet on desserts as i'm too full to even think that far.

If you have eaten at Rainforest, then you have eaten at TRex ( as far as food). They are owned by the same company and the food is pretty much the same. We have eaten at TRex twice and were underwhelmed by the food, but DS7 is in LOVE with anything and everything Dino related. The portions are huge but it is waaaay overpriced. If you are interested in dining with LOUD (and I do mean LOUD) Dino's and don't mind the food from Rainforest, I would try it. :) It is definately a fun place in terms of a dining *experience*.

My boys love T-rex too. They were not impressed with Rainforest Cafe last trip.

I really loved the omnivore salad at T-rex (mixed greens, goat cheese, strawberries, craisins, carmelized pecans with balsamic vinegrette).

We are going to try to go back to T-rex on the next trip. I personally would rather go to EOS, but the kids love t-rex.

We went to T-Rex this past March with no expectations of good food, and mainly went for the experience for 4 children (ages 11-4). I can say the kids loved the atmosphere, but I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I expected it to be horrible or just above palatable, but it was actually good. We had the above-mentioned omnivore salad along with fish tacos. The portions were enormous and I had a hard time finishing my dinner. My hubby and I always share two dishes and we couldn't finish these combined. Next time we go we will share one dish, and definitely gain a savings that way. My son had the kids pizza, which was just that, kids pizza ... nothing great, but edible. We also shared some type of chocolate dessert amongst our table (4 adults and 4 kids). It was good, but nothing that sticks out as fabulous.

We are taking our DS(4) back this fall, as he has made a request to go back. And, I am looking forward to having that delicious salad again.

By the way, we've been to Rainforest many times, and I really prefer T-Rex. Good luck with your choice.

The RFC up by me has recently changed their menu and they took away my families favorite thing. The lettuce wraps :sad1:. However the new menu did have some good choices. I dont know about for a vegetarian. We went to T-Rex this past time because it was the only place we could get in lol and the food was actually pretty good. The bad thing is that it is overpriced and loud. We tried the RFC in AK and it was not good but the one in DTD may be good.

Hope it helps!

I'm going to have to go with TRex on this one. I have been to RFC many times and have never been impressed with the food. The best thing to me on the menu is the volcano :)

I have been to TRex once this past May. The theming is great and the food actually seemed much better to me than anything at RFC?? I know they're owned by the same people but still?? idk.. I had the chicken salad sandwich and it was great. Portions are HUGE here. I recommend splitting meals :)

Thanks everyone! I think we will choose T-Rex. All our your opinions were really in line with what I guessed. The salad sounds wonderful. We have some really great ADR's already for this trip, including LeCellier and California Grill, and also Boma, so I think it's safe to take a chance on something new.

DISMICHAEL AND CHOCOVRDMICEARS - We'll be at Coronado Aug. 18-24th! Have great vacations!!!

P.S. Chocoverdmicears - embarrassed to admit I had to read your tag name about 4 times aloud, before I got it! Duh. :rotfl:

Thank again everyone, Jane

After having eaten at RFC too many times to count, as kids love the theming, we were pleasantly surprised by the food at T-Rex a few weeks ago too! It was good. Great service - a bit loud and dark, but we knew that going in. The store is way too small though, and so with people waiting to go in, and actual people shopping, it's crazy in there!

Happy eating - we are giving RFC a break for awhile, and will definitely be back to T-Rex next trip.

Tiger :)
