T-Rex is owned by the same company that owns Rainforest Cafe. There is already one T-Rex open. If you go the Rainforestcafe.com and then click on other restaurants you can find out info on T-Rex.
The T-Rex here in Kansas City is very much like Rainforest Cafe, but with dinosaurs. The food is good and they did a good job on the themeing. It's always busy so I'm sure that will be no different in DTD...
The man that did the theming for Rain Forest and T-Rex also did Yeck and Yeti. He is from Minnesota and they did a special about him and bringing his ideas to Disney.
Both Tusker House, and Restaurantasaurous are still there. T-Rex will be at DTD. I did hear a long time ago, that there would be one at AK also, but they may have been talking about Yak and Yeti.
At a guess, I would say it's not likely. The Rainforest Cafes are not.
Yak & Yeti is, but it's inside a theme park (a park that has only two TS restaurants inside). Most likely they wanted to prevent all the DDP business going to Tusker House.
Restaurantosaurus is still at AK, but no longer serves a breakfast buffet, which has moved to Tusker House.
Yup T-REx will be in DTD sometime in 2008 or ealry 2009.
Here is the website - you can check out the menu and other T-Rex stuff http://www.trexcafe.com/
Photos taken January 27th - says Fall 2008. Has a long way to go.
Rainforest does take the Premium and Platinum Dining Plans.
They told me at RFC when I was there in January, and I verified it on the Disney 2008 Brochures.
Awhile back there was a link with photos to a place in S FLA that was actually constructing all the interior "stuff" including seating, so it will be done, only needing installation.
Not saying it will be done by Fall.........but there is a chance if once the exterior is up, secure and interior is to be safe from elements......the interior work can begin and it could transform pretty quickly.
I so hope it is done this year as I PLAN on going January 2009. Been cashing out for rainforest cards to go here so I will be so bummed if it doesn't get done.
I think the theming will be great, but the food on the menu looks pretty typical...no surprises. For years, our tradition has been RFC and my Mom just hates the food there. I told my son this year we will try Trex instead, although I'm not expecting anything great with the food!
