Hi! I am new here. We are planning our 2nd WDW trip in 2009. Our travel dates are December 6-11. I am adding a lunch on our departure day... It will be paid for out of pocket. I am trying to decide between T rex Cafe or Rainforest Cafe? We have 2 kids ages 5 & 2! Thanks in advance!

If you really have no preference between dinosaurs and elephants/gorillas/etc. I would say that as it is out of pocket, I would choose Rainforest Cafe. The main reason is that you can get a coupon that will save you $10 off a purchase of $25 or more.

I don't think you'll be able to get into Trex in Dec.....I tried and couldn't find a ADR.

We decided Rainforest Cafe... for the coupon... There ARE T Rex Cafe... I found one at 11am Saturday December 11th for 4 adults 2 kids. We are early eaters though!

All things being equal I would say Rainforest. I have eaten there twice and had a good meal each time. T-Rex is mind numbingly loud and I find it unpleasant.

My kids loved T-Rex! They are both boys though and love dinosaurs. Also, we have a RC about an hour away and go there every now and again so T-Rex was new for them. I thought that you could use the RC coupon at T-Rex but I might be wrong. Oh, well, it doesn't matter since you've chosen RC anyway.

Enjoy and have a great trip! -MM

the restaurant direct. A lot of people have had success with that.

We did T-Rex this past trip and have done Rain Forest a couple of times. For us it was worth going to T-Rex to see the decor. I think next time we'll be going to RFC if we do one of those again. The food selection worked better for us there. Others on this board prefer T-Rex though.

T-Rex all the way... :thumbsup2

We had an ADR on the 20th and it was amazing!
Went back on the 27th (no ADR) and were seated within minutes.

OMG the tomato & basil soup is TDF :lovestruc

I've been to both, I lke the food at RFC but I prefer the food at T-Rex. Other than the room with the meteor shower I didn't feel that it's any noisier than most crowded Disney restaurants. Our waiter at T-Rex was very attentive and accurate in his description of the food and his recommendation.

Huge portions, I dream about that Pot Pie. Next time, no appetizers so that we have room for the blazing volcanic dessert thing!

It has been reported that that coupon will also be honored at T-Rex. Both restaurants are owned by Landry's.

As another poster mentioned, call them directly. Only a small percentage of tables are released to the Disney dining system. You should have no problem getting an ADR if you call the restaurant.

To the OP...I'd go with the one with the theme that most appeals to your kids. If they like wild animals I'd go with the Rainforest Cafe. If they like dinosaurs I'd go with T-Rex. The food is very similar at both and the atmosphere is the same. The only real difference is the theming.

Enjoy!

We've eaten at both resturants and like both for different reasons. The Rainforest has a great menu with for adults and the younger folks. We took our kids when they were younger and never had a problem finding something for eveyone. Our youngest tends to be on the fussy side. We went to T-Rex once on our last trip and I had a flatbread pizza app which could have easily been a main course. For my entree I had a BBQ rib dish as I remember and it was very good. Our children at the time of the T-Rex visit were older 16 & 17 and had a great time in the "Ice Age" room. At the risk of waffleing We also like the Rainforest and your kids will probably enjoy the animotronic animals and the large aquariums with the exotic fish. We tend to make DTD our departure day activity and off to the airport:sad2:

I just called for 11/14 (not available online) and got a reservation with no problem. I also asked about the Rainforest Cafe coupon and he said they do accept it. :yay:

Where can I find this coupon everyone is talking about?

We're going to T-Rex on 11/20.
