We walked thru last visit but didn't eat @T-REx. MY DD7 wants to go (I think more for the boneyard & Build a dino). Menu looks pretty good & we thought we might try it on a nonpark day this trip. Will they like it? Is it too scary or "boy"friendly?

Also, can you sign up for the Landry club there or is it just at Rainforest. Might do Rainforest this trip as well as someone posted a $10 off/spend $25 that I want to try & use....I read you just can join the club at their restaurant...is it worth it if we use it 2x this trip & again maybe for Oct. trip?

Thanks

I do not know if you can purchase into the Safari club at T-Rex but I am a member. With your $15.00 membership you will get a $10.00 coupon mailed to you and if you save 10% on two meals during your trip it should basically pay for itself. The $10.00 coupon does have an expiration date though so you'll have to make that return trip to use it.

I have mixed feelings about T-Rex. We went last November, very soon after it opened. I have read some very good reviews on here since so others don't necessarily feel the same as I did. It was way too loud for me. We frequent the RFC so I was expecting noise but this place seemed much louder. And during the meteor shower I could not hear the person next to me speaking. They may have lowered the volume since our trip though.

My niece who was three at the time was scared and she doesn't usually scare easily. My brothers 7 & 9 were in heaven though. I would not say it's necessarily "boy" friendly. I'd call it dinosaur friendly so if your girls like those it's friendly for them too!

With all that said, I will most likely be trying it again with the boys only at the end of May. If your DD wants to go there then you should give it a whirl. And try the dessert, it is huge and like $15 but worth it!

We've done T-REX twice with our sons (7 and 3), most recently this past Sunday night. It is very loud, but not in a "scary" way - it's just a loud space (I believe it seats over 900, and it often sounds like all 900 people are talking at once!). The meteor shower is a bit louder yet, but only lasts about 30 seconds. The food is better than I would have expected - large portions, and quality is definitely a step up from standard fare - but you're going to pay for it. Burgers/sandwiches run $10-15 and other entrees are $20-30+.

The effects are very cool. The ice cave room was our favorite. The dinosaurs are relatively life-like. Bottom line, if your kids like dinosaurs and aren't completely freaked out by loud spaces, they will love it.

It is a fun atmosphere, but I'd wonder about how the 4 year old would react. I've heard that some of the younger kids can be a little scared of it. It is child-friendly, but pretty loud, as others have said. Are either of them very "into" dinosaurs? I wouldn't say that it's geared towards boys, but if your girls don't like dinosaurs it's probably not the right choice for them.
Hope this helps!

Maybe we'll just try it for dessert....we love the VOLCANO @ RFC &, after all eating desserts last trip @Giradelli which was over $20 bucks.....I can't complain if we spend $15 & get "atmosphere".

DD4 doesn't scare too easily, in fact, during our Dec. trip she was still 3 but tall enough for test track which SHE LOVED.

IS the RFC club coupon good for 6 months or so?

THANKS!

But if they really like Dino's then you will be fine. It is loud and animated, your young one may or may not like that. The food and service was average, like RFC. You can make ressies there by calling them direct, which I reccomend for at least dinner.

We enjoyed ourselves there but probably won't do it a second time. Great View (the ice cave looks awesome...I want one), mediocre high priced food IMO. Wolfgang Puck Cafe food quality wise blows them away at a fraction of the cost.

If she is more interested in the Build a dino and Dig, you can do that without ordering food, that might be an option for you.

It sounds like your girls might enjoy is.

Whether we have room for it or not we always get the CHOCOLATE VOLCANO at RFC and their chocolate extinction is very similar. It comes on a huge plate with a shaker in the center that is steaming. The taste is similar to the CF but perhaps better. They add butterfinger candybar crumble to it. SO YUM.

I am almost positive the coupon is good for 3 months after you recieve it and it will take about 2 months to show up. So maybe 5 months.
