So, I have heard great things about T-Rex. I was in Orlando for work and went there with coworkers. i made a PS, went to the front and was told they were seating everyone and I had to wait in this huge line. After 15 minutes (still not up front) they came to get us.

Then the food was just Ehh... Did I just have a bad experience? It took 10 minutes for our waiter to come. Then we barely saw him. I think he didn't have many tables in our area. It wasn't even that crowded!

I'm trying to figure out if I should go back with DH in Sept, but after this, I'm thinking no.

Like Rainforest Cafe, T-rex isn't known for it's food... just for the amazing giant dinosaurs that are in the dining area. You're getting "chain" food and that tends to be mass produced and not a "wow" type of fare.

As far as the waiters and servers go, that's always a hit or miss. My suggestion is to go back and try it, and if the service isn't up to par, find a manager and compain. You shouldn't have to pay large prices for food if your server is doing a poor job.

We went there last March and the food was just okay. We went there for the atmosphere and DD loved it. So that makes it worth it in our eyes. But like you, I did find the service to be a bit slow. I think each server was taking care of too many tables.

You should have been reading the posts about T-Rex and RFC. I have stated my opinion a few times. Go in and look, it's nice to see all the things both places have. But when it's time to eat, move along and go elsewhere.

We tend to get the app sampler and some drinks and go eat dinner somewhere else.

We will be going to the T Rex during our (myself and DS5 will turn 6 in the World!!!) upcoming trip in Feb. I have heard a lot of mixed reviews! As far as food goes, I am not expecting too much. I booked T Rex because my son LOVES  dinos! I want to go just for the atmosphere! He will be so happy...and of course we want to do Build-A-Dino!!! Whatever you chose, you'll have an awsome va-ca!!! You'll be in Disney!

We absolutely love TRex, but mostly for the atmosphere. We think the food is good, too, but nothing spectacular. As for the service -- we've been once when it was not too busy and the service was spectacular, then once when it was HOPPING in there and the service was very, very slow - barely acceptable.

We'll continue to go there because we love the dinos!

We were there for the first time last June and gave it the following marks: Food 6; Table Service 6; Atmosphere 10; reservation line and initial seating negative 15! We were there on a very busy summer evening, with ressies made months in advance and were told we "missed" our time:eek:--we'd been standing in a single line for 30 minutes along with others in the same boat. When you got to the box, they'd tell you "oh, you need to go in that line if you had a reservation :scared1: Needlesstosay, a coup erupted until a higher level manager came out to organize the ressies/walk ups into separate lines and those of us with confirmation numbers were allowed to go in....and wait in another line:confused3 We are going back one more time this summer and if they don't have their act together, it will be our last. We found their front line staff to be rude and condescending. We felt a bit vindicated later in the week when we walked there again and saw a CSR asking people in the wait line whether they had a reservation or not, if they did, they were taken immediately to another que, so hopefully we won't be treated so horribly again.

I had the Chicken Fried Steak and it was BAD. Something had "turned", whether it was bad meat or bad dairy used for the breading. It was inedible. I did not want to get sick so I didn't eat more than one nasty bite.

Me and DF are planning on going in December. It's his choice, I get to pick everything else so I won't complain.:lmao: We have never been and I'm sure the atmosphere will be great. I'm just going in knowing we are going for the atmosphere and not the food. We will prly get the app, sampler and some drinks, can you really screw up mozzarella sticks?

I think rainforest and t-rex are fun, but I would'nt go if I did'nt have kids. They both have really good sampler appetizers. We always only order apps and kids meals and we never wait long for food.

We were there last week. Not a crowded day (walked in w/o a wait), but overall I didn't like it at all. Incredibly noisy and overstimulating, even for Disney! The service was slow (you'd think they would want to turn tables & get you out!). The food was not bad but totally overpriced. Mostly I objected to the NOISE, bright lights, massive amounts of sensory input. I get that they want to create a fun interactive dino experience, but it was just wayyyy too much. Had to shout to hear the person next to me, and left with a headache. My 2 yo was freaked out and I had to take him outside. Honestly, I was relieved to get out of there!

I guess it is hit or miss. We were there 2 weeks ago. I had the fish & chips, and dd had the chicken fried steak. Both were good, basic food. Nothing fantastically wow 5 stary or anything. Our waitress was fantastic, very quick and personable, came back many times to check in. We had a PS, but checked in early and were seated within 5 minutes. Agreed, it is very loud, but that is to be expected.

We had the same experience with our visits to RFC. We ate at both the DTD and AK locations.

We were able to use our Safari Club discount at TRex for free chef app. or 10% off entree.

Thanks for posting that information. :thumbsup2

I had no intention of bringing my safari club card when I take my son to Disney this August since we never go to RFC at Disney (we can do that here).

Even with some of these reviews, I'm really looking forward to taking him here. And in all reality, I think the kids meals at RFC are better quality then what Disney offers on many of their kids menus, so I expect T-Rex to be better as well (for kids).

I know he'll love it (and have already made our ADR), and don't mind paying a premium for the atmosphere. But knowing I can get a free app or discount will be nice since we're definately going. :cool1:.

I absolutely LOVED the theming and the food at T-Rex. I do have to mention that the food I had at T-Rex was IDENTICAL to the food I ate two days later at the Rainforest. I knew they are owned by the same company, but I wanted to point that out. I had chili con queso follwed by foccacia bread which was soooo good! For dessert, I had key lime pie which is hard to find here in Wisconsin.
I wish we would've been seated in the ice cave because that was super cool to see all the changing colors. Instead, we sat below some jellyfish.
We daughter's food was also identical to that of the Rainforest....dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets with fries.
I think you can eat at either the Rainforest OR T-Rex and have almost the same experience.
I loved eating at Rainforest at AK after the park already closed. We were the only ones of the bus back to AKL after we ate! The busses ran until 7 pm and the park closed at 5.

I love the theming and the roasted chicken is wonderful as is the palio sandwich. But I will never go there at night again (the service was soooooooo bad) We have been several times at lunch and a few times for dinner. The lunch experiences were great but the dinner experiences were all bad.
