T-Rex Cafe questions

I must admit that I've really dropped the ball on planning the WDW portion of our upcoming Cruise in October. My DD is a dino nut and would just die to eat at the T-Rex cafe. So here are my silly questions - sorry in advance if they've been repeated before on this forum!

Is it just down right impossible to think about getting a reservation for mid-October? We don't care when in the day - we can plan around it.
Do they have a wait-list if we get there early in the day and choose to wait if we can?
Do they have a counter where we could just get a sundae or something?
Any tips for us?

Thanks in advance!

You can get an ADR online right now. I can't imagine it being too difficult in Mid-OCt. I haven't gotten to T-Rex yet (Someone correct me if I am wrong) but I am guessing it is exactly like Rain Forest Cafe and thus you can sit in the bar area and order just desert.

We just ate at T-Rex on June 27, our last day in WDW.

I made an on-line reservation a few days prior to our trip, like June 18th or something like that. I had my pick of times for lunch on that Saturday.

T-Rex is pretty large inside, so it seats many. They do have a bar which you could probably sit at as a walk up.

I'm pretty sure you can just go in there for dessert.

Making on-line ADR's is really easy, so I'd go that route, so that you know at least you have a reservation.

The walk-up line was pretty long when we were there!

We ate at T-Rex on the 4th of June. I did make our reservations by phone 6 months ahead. The night we had reservations they were accepting walk-ups and I did not see anyone turned away or leaving because the wait was too long.

I did not see a bar, that does not mean they don't have one, I just didn't see one. The restaurant is huge, very, very noisy and I probably missed alot because I didn't feel well and the noise made my head hurt even more.

I did see quite a few tables around us just ordering either appys or desserts.
Even though I did not feel well I thought the food was tasty and the bill about average for Disney. $60 for 2 adults, 1 child, no alcohol.

to get ressies through Disney. If you can't or if the times are not good, call the restaurant direct.

You should easily be able to get a reservation for October. I went on July 6th and made a reservation directly through T-Rex Cafe on June 30th and had my pick of times. The line looks long outside, but if you have a reservation you can just walk up on the left side of the podium and let them know you have a reservation. I also suggest requestion the Fern Room...as that is the room with all of the trees and dinos. The Ice Room is a little too much for me with the changing color of the walls.....and you can easily see the changing "ice walls" from other rooms.

There is a bar....and you can order food from the menu, but remember there are bar height stools in this area.

The restaurant is noisy and crowded, but we have had good food and service both times we went. I usually stick with the sandwiches/burgers and have not been disappointed. The kids also enjoyed playing in the Dino Dig area...a small version of the Boneyard dig area at Animal Kingdom.

Thank you, everyone, for your quick responses and tips! I'm feeling a whole lot better about things. I can't wait to see the place.

FYI we I did my 90 days Disney said there was nothing available for T-rex, I called TRex directly the next day and she said they were wide open and I got a 5:30 priority seating, so if you dont get a time you like just call them directly

I would like to take our boy there for his 8th birthday in Mid October. If i understand this right, I can phone their for a reservation? Does someone have the correct phone number. Thanks

T Rex isn't on the DP, so it won't be crazy packed-no ADR's like the other restaurants. And yes, if you want you can go in just for dessert. (no special counter for that, you still have to get a table.) A few weeks ago my DSs and I were at US and we hopped on over to DTD to shop one night. We went into TRex and just ordered a "Chocolate Extinction" and had that. We didn't need the whole dining experience, just a lot of chocolate, ice cream and a little atmosphere.;) Have fun!

ETA: I actually had an ADR for 8:00, the only time I could get. But when we got there at 6 there was a 5 minute wait.

We ate at T-rex on Friday, June 12 without a reservation. We got into MCO at around 7 pm on Friday night and stayed at POFQ that night before going to Port Canaveral for our 7 night cruise on the Magic. We decided not to make to get an ADR because we weren't sure how early we could get there. We had no problems. We signed in and were told it would be about a 45 minute wait. We ended up waiting only about 30 minutes. I would think in October you shouldn't have any problems even without a reservation.

We also couldn't get anything through Disney at our 90day mark so today I called direct. Got a 6:00pm seating which was our first choice. No problems.
