t-cell Lymphoma?

MIL said the Drs told FIL he has t-cell lymphoma today. I've done some research, it seems to be a non-hodgkins lymphoma. He also has FELTY'S SYNDROME which is "A disorder characterized by rheumatoid arthritis, an enlarged spleen, a decreased white blood cell count, and recurrent infection. " and heart problems (2 bypasses and they were planning to do surgery to put in a internal defibulator)

From the lymphoma information looks like having an immune problem increases the chance for lymphoma. They gave him Methotrexate which is a chemotherapy drug.

Anyone have experience with this or know someone who has? Doesn't sound good especially on top of all the other problems

Sorry that I can't help offer you any information that you were asking for. I did want to let you know that my mother has to take Methotrexate several times a year for her Lupus. The first few times she had to take it she did get sick to her stomach. I think she is getting more used to it. But the side effects were not so bad that she couldn't function. If you need more specifics I can get some information from her for you.

My brother 30 years old was diagnosed with t-cell lymphoma, non-hodgkins a couple years ago. Of course he was much younger than your FIL, and didn't have any other health problems, but was given two weeks to live. It had eaten up most of his insides. Amazingly, he survived the two weeks started chemo and then did radiation and has been cancer free for about a year now. So don't give up anything is possible.

Janet I am so sorry to hear this. My father had lymhoma non-hodgkins type. I don't remember them ever saying t-cell. He was diagnosed as a young man, late 30's and lived a good 21 years. He never went beyond 5 years with out having treatment. He finally did die of complications from the lymphomia. I don't know if that helps you any and I wish I could give you more information. The last year was so hard but he had 20 wonderful years with off and on chemo treatments.
