We are:
Tony, (DH - Tony64) age 44 - in charge of driving, collecting coffee and doughnuts for breakfast, running to get fast passes and generally stressing. This is his ninth trip.
Theresa (me), age 43 - in charge of the credit cards and plotting quickest routes to the shopping malls. This is my tenth trip.
Maddie (DD), age 19 - jointly in charge of where we eat, shop and play this trip. This is her seventh trip.
Callum (DS) age 18 - in charge of himself. This is his seventh trip.
Monday 25th August 2008.
We got up and had coffee and brownies for breakfast then decided on Blizzard Beach for the morning. We got there for opening time and grabbed some loungers in the shade of a gazebo then went straight to Teamboat Springs, the family raft ride. We then did Runoff Rapids, the tube slides, where Maddie and I overturned at the bottom and Maddie fell on my head. It really felt like my whole head filled with water, and I was spluttering embarrassingly in front of everyone! We went on the lazy river to recover.
We had lunch at Lottawatta Lodge and Maddie was overjoyed to have her first Disney burger which she loved. I had the fish and chips which were very nice and the others had double cheese burgers. We were going to have funnel cake later on but we forgot!
We left Blizzard Beach at 1.30 and went shopping again.
We decided on The Florida Mall, stopping first at The Terrace where Maddie and I bought scrapbooking stuff at Scrappy Boutique and Tony and Cal went to Ritz Camera where they bought another camera (the same model as before and it seems to be fine). They took out extra expanded insurance which covers the camera worldwide, just in case.
At the Mall we headed straight to Yankee Candle and using a $15 off coupon, stocked up on some delicious candles and air fresheners. Had a quick look in Abercrombie and Fitch where members of staff mysteriously said Whats going on? every few metres as a greeting. We werent sure how to reply! We also stopped in M&M world and bought some premium white chocolate mint M&Ms.
There was a huge thunderstorm when we left the Mall. We had an ADR booked for the evening at the Grand Floridian Cafe and when we got there we did valet parking (free with our Disney Dining experience card) which saved us getting soaked. We had taken a change of clothes with us because we knew we wouldnt have enough time to go back to the condo to change so we nipped into the restrooms to freshen up.
Our ADR was for 7.30pm but we werent seated until much later. Service was extremely slow but our waitress, Lauren, was very perky and efficient, and the food was good. Cal & Tony had the New York Strip; I had chicken with red wine sauce. Maddie had just a plain hamburger with chunky fries (which wasnt on the menu but they were happy to do this for her). For dessert, Maddie and I had chocolate hazelnut mousse and Tony had chocolate fondue.
We also had cappuccinos but Tony didnt like his as they had sprinkled a chocolate and cinnamon powder on the top.
The total bill after using our Disney Dining Experience card and including tip and tax came to $120. We left about 9.45pm and it was lovely having our car brought to us.
