That's right, only 10 days left until we head for florida on our first trip home!!! This will be our first stay at WDW not being at the CBR... Any tips or pointers for our first stay at OKW? We are probably spoiling ourselves because we booked 1BR on our first trip!!! :) After a 4 day stint in Tampa (10/9-12) we will head to Disney for 8 days of fun at the mouse house...

Anyway I just wanted to share our excitement and see if anyone had any tips for us... Our group will be myself ::MickeyMo, dw ::MinnieMo , 2.5yr ds :earboy2:, 4 mo dd :earsgirl:. Should I request any specific buildings, etc, etc...?

TIA,
Mark :jumping1:

Less than 10 days for us!! Can't wait.

I'm not an OKW expert, but one tip I have is that you don't need to go commando through the parks anymore. You will be going back for many years to come, so you don't need to see everything. This method has made our trips so relaxing and enjoyable, we actually come home refreshed after our stay at Disney.

Enjoy!

We leave one week from today for OKW! We own at BCV and stayed theren last March! We are looking forward to trying all of the DVC resorts. Just take it easy and let the kids decide when you need down time, ect. I know we all will have great trips....NO MORE HURRICANES!!!!

Our first stay at OKW is just ahead of yours, we leave this Friday!

I just know we'll have a great time!

Bobbi:D

:Pinkbounc Hello! We'll be joining you. 3 nights Indian Beach (should have been Vero) then BCV. We CAN'T WAIT!

Anyone going to be in their resorts the 13-19 interested in a fireworks cruise?? I have been reading a little about this, but from what I can tell you need to have 8 people.. Well if our son, age 2.5, counts then we would only have 3... Just wanted to throw this out there...

Hope everyone has fun!! :)

Mark

PS: how do i get a counter in my signature?

2 Quick ones...

Does OKW have DVD players in the room??

Is highspeed internet available at OKW??

Thanks,
Mark

8 Days NOW!!!

OKW now has DVD players in the living room. When we were there in August high speed internet was available. I did not use it so not sure about the cost. OKW is our home resort and we love it there. It's very relaxing to return to OKW after a busy day at the parks. I can't say enough about the CMs at OKW. They really go out of their way to make you feel like you are really "home."

Have a great time :)

We'll be at OKW in five days!

OKW for us 16-23

Mark- We were CBR fans too, pre-DVC. OKW is a lot more spread out than CBR and the dining is not centrally located. There is an internal bus system still I think. And, you can almost drive right up to your door. A plus at OKW. Olivia's has great food and great service. Can't wait for lunch there myself when we arrive. The theme pool is down but the area pools are nice.

We used HSIS at BWV in April and I think it was $9.95 for a 24 hour period. Very user friendly and there was a countdown clock so you knew how much time you had left. You could skip like half a day and then pick it back up again so we paid for something like 5 days out of 7. I wish they had a cheaper length of stay rate.

Fireworks cruises are more than likely all already booked up. They take ressies way out and it would be unlikely there are any openings. You can call to be sure. I did not know there was a minimum limit. DH and I went by ourselfs and there were several other boats that had less than 8. Are you sure it's not max. of 8?

Hope you enjoy your 1st DVC trip. You are sure to have no regrets of giving up CBR.
;)

Two weeks from today we will be at OKW! Our first drive from Western New York to FL.

Thank you all for the great responses... It makes me want to be there right now!! :) By this time next Saturday we will be in Florida, and after a brief stop at my Mom's in Tampa we will be off to OKW!! We will actually be on property from the 13th through the 20th, and we can't wait!!! Once again, thanks for all the responses. For those of you down during our same trip (13-20) you will have to keep your eyes out for us, my wife and 2.5 yr old son both have red hair and we have a little 4 month old daughter!! If you see us please say hi!! :) We will also be at the MNSSHP on 10/17, I will be Capt. Hook, my wife will be Minnie, son will be Peter Pan, and our daughter will be a Flower!! :teeth: Anyway we can't wait, and I know this will be the best choice we have made!!

Thanks again,
Mark

PS: My wife, Molly, has been asking about the weather, any tips on what it is like this time of year?? She is really worried about packing correctly!! :)

Mark-We go mid-late October or early-mid November every year and the weather is always great. We have never had any rain and the days are always just right. Very early morning and later at night can be a little chilly but it may not be for you as you will be there earlier than we usually go. Maybe a lightweight jacket. We take one set of warmer clothes for down and back and if we need them while we are there. Tell your wife mostly summer stuff. Don't forget you can wash clothes in your villa. Since DVC, I take 1/2 of what we used to. Hope you have a wonderful stay.
