SYTYCD Fans -- New Format?

My DD's have been asking when SYTYCD will be back & started looking around online. Evidently returns in late May as normal, however they apparently have come up w/ a new format?

Not sure how many dancers will make the competition phase, but I think it will be 10. Apparently one dancer instead of two will go home each week -- because they will dance w/ a SYTYCD superstar instead of a fellow competitor.

They messed up a really good thing last fall by mishandling the fall season. I think this idea will derail one of the few things I enjoy watching on TV anymore.

I hadn't heard about this but I sincerely hope it isn't a done deal. I especially don't like the part about them dancing with a sytycd superstar. Does that mean alumni?? I would worry that people would just vote for their favorite sytycd superstar and not the new person. Sounds like they're going to jump the shark.

Yes, I believe it's 10 SYTYCD alumni. I do think it's a done deal, because the names have been announced I believe Twitch & Lauren are among them. It is nice to see the alums. They're great dancers. But I don't think it's good for the show.

My first thought was, "well at least they'll all get a partner who won't hold them back." But if they have alumni like Twitch, that's not the case. Twitch was very entertaining don't get me wrong. But not a super strong partner technically. SYTYCD is my favorite show.

Just read the site. It says each week they'll be paired with a different superstar. I am thinking, and hope, that the superstars will remain within their field. Hmmmm. Could see it being good or bad.

The all-stars are only dancing their genres. They've all been announced.

I'm not happy about it. They had a winning formula season 1-5. Season 6 was a victim of bad scheduling. No reason to change and there is at least 1 "all-star" who I'm not looking forward to at all.
