The City of Syracuse honored the NCAA Champions (boy, does that sound good!) Syracuse University (SU) Basketball team on Saturday, April 12th with a parade down Salina Street in Syracuse.
The streets were decoreated with flags and thousands of people wearing the Orange and Blue colors of SU.
Many entrepreneurs were selling SU hats, t-shirts, and pendents like this resourceful fellow.
The SU basketball team's fearless leader, Jim Boeheim, still wearing his Mardi Gras hat. Who said Jim doesn't have a sense of humor?
And here's the trophy still sporting the net that was cut down from the Super Dome's rim. Don't adjust your screen, the photo is a little out of focus.
The players followed the coaches and the crowd just converged on them. I stood on a parade barrier and barely got this shot of Hakim Warrick (on the right). I can't identify the other player. When Carmelo Anthony came down, I couldn't even see him let alone get an image of him.
The parade was the fitting ending to a wonderful week here in Syracuse. The SU basketball team's exploits at the Final Four helped lift the spirits after a long winter and recent ice storm in upstate New York. And it brought us a little sunshine to our lives.

It was a fun time. South Salina Street was wall-to-wall people. Yep, we are all waiting with great anticapation for Jimmy B's spot on Lettermen.
Oh, and there's a neat pin set for all you collectors out there.
