Sword in the Stone Ceremony ?

My niece really wanted to pull the sword out, but each time we waited for Merlin to pick a child she wasn't chosen. Is there a way to get chosen? We must have tried about 4 times-each with a different method.

When we go in Sept. I think that would be her "dream".

There is no way to "get chosen", and odds are likely, if you are visibly trying, Merlin is not going to pick you.

Since this really doesn't have anything to do with YOAMD, and the Sword in the Stone ceremony is no longer performed at WDW, I'm moving this thread to the Disneyland forum. Perhaps somebody there will have some tips for you on how to get chosen.

we've seen the show a zillion times, but only got chosen once...my daughter (now 10)...got to pull the sword from the stone. She still has the medallion hanging up in her room.

Here's my boy with Merlin. I think being up front, near the edge of the crowd helped him. Well, that and he showed great enthusiasm (hmmmmm, wonder if a sign like they use for Jedi Training Academy would help???)

They actually do the Sword as a Magical Moment at WDW. Merlin isn't there, but if the time is right, you hold the sword just right and truly believe that you are a "Royal" the sword just might rise from the stone for you. It never hurts to try and it is still a great picture.

I wonder, if you went to city hall a day or two before, and told them this... that you've tried 4 times with no luck, and it would be her dream... maybe they could accomodate you somehow? I don't know if there's a CM hanging around the area for crowd control, that might be another way to get a word in to Merlin. Nothing like a little behind-the-scenes parental interference to get your child's wish fulfilled! You never know. They could ask her to wear an identifying button or hat or something so Merlin would know who to pick.

Just an idea.
