Hi,
me and my family are looking to do a 4 night cruise in Bahamas in Feb 2011, we are from Switzerland, we have a lot of experience with WDW, 16 times the last 20 years, but we are new to the Disney Cruise...
So I'd like to know if you have to pay for breakfast and lunch, I saw a lot written about dinning, but nothing about other meals.
We are going to be a party of 8, and my wallet is afraid :)
Thank in advance
Richard

Welcome to the boards!
I think the the cruise is different, as far as I know, the cruise is all included, I mean you pay for everything, meals included, I hope some one can help you better!;)

All meals are included in the price of you package. If you want to eat at a specialty restaurant on the ship, then there is an additional cost involved. Tiping you cruise staff is not included in your cost. There is a "suggested" amount that is given to your cabin staff, waiter, assistant waiter and so on. Depending on the legnth of your cruise as to the amount. It really is a very small amount for all of the serivices they provide.

I hope this helps you and clears up some of your concerns.

I love your country, I have been there several times.

Thanks a lot for answering so fast. You have no idea how happy is my wallet :cool1:
OK, if is not a great problem, can you explain me how is that with the tipping?,

Baggage Porters (at terminal): $1-2/bag
- Dining Room Server: $3.75/night
- Dining Room Assistant Server: $2.75/night
- Dining Room Head Server: $1/night
- Stateroom Host/Hostess: $3.60/night
(Note: Dining Room staff and your stateroom host/hostess are customarily tipped in a lump sum, at the end of the voyage. Disney Cruise Line provides tip envelopes for this purpose, and you can charge those gratuities to your room by visiting Guest Services on Deck 3.
- Palo Server: The per-person charge ($5 for dinner) is intended to cover your meal gratuity, but a 15% tip for wine and beverage service, and an additional tip for exceptional service are very much in order.
- Room Service: $2/person
- Bartender/Lounge Server: Check your bill to see if a tip was automatically added to your bill. If not, $10-15% of bill
- Shore Excursion Tour Guide: $1-2/person

When I saw the list, I see me walking with hundred 1 dollar notes in my pocket and each time that a member crew talks to me I must give him something:confused:
Is that list really so?
Thanks again, and if you want to know something about the park at WDW or shopping areas near the park, please ask me, we are really experts, specially my daughters and my wife :thumbsup2

I looked at your list and it seems likle it will be about $11.10 per passenger per day. You can get envelopes from the pursers office, or you can put the tips on your credit card at the beginning of your trip. Then you don't have to worry about it any more. You will need a few $1.00 bills, when you arrive at the dock, the porter will take care of your bags, he/she will see to it that your bags arrive in your stateroom after you are on the ship. I have eaten at some of the specialty resturants, but the food at the main dinning room is excellent.

I am a Disney expert too, I have been there at least 30 times over the years. Now that the family is grown and have kids of their own, I am doing some solo trips. My daughter and I are going there Oct. 1st, she is running in the Disney Wine and Dine Marathon half Relay. Her husband is staying home with the kids. Its going to be fun to have a Mother Daughter trip.

If you think of anything else or have questions, I will be happy to try and answer them.pixiedust:

Welcome!

I'm an American who moved to Baden, Switzerland about a year ago. I didn't think there were many Disney fans over here.

Good luck planning your cruise!

Sorry to bump up this thread, but... here's one more WDW and DCL fan from Switzerland - Lucerne area. It's true however that there are not too many Disney fans here. I only know two more huge fans living here.

Been to WDW once so far, had my 1st Disney cruise last year - 7 NIght Western Caribbean on the Magic. Absolutely loved it. Going back to WDW in 3 weeks - Savannah View Room at Animal Kingdom Lodge.:cool1:

Now to add something useful to my post: Check out this great Cruise Tip Calculator. It works for many cruise lines, including Disney and gives you an accurate overview on what the tipping amounts per day and cruise are: http://cruisetip.tpkeller.com/

It's not necessary to carry around tons of cash. Tipping payments, as well as other purchases onboard the Disney ships can be paid with your onboard account, linked to your credit card.

By the way there is also a large German-language Disney forum covering WDW and DCL out there. It's named like the largest store on Main Street USA. Google that and join us as well.;)

Whoops! Hit accidentially "Quote" instead of "Edit". Was meant to be one single post.

And another cruise and disney fan from Zurich, Switzerland!

Feel free to contact me if you like to chat about Disney, Cruises or whatever.

...and another DIS family from Switzerland, hallo zäme. :dance3:

We live near Zurich and had been on a 4-night cruise in 2008 and just booked the 5 night with doubledip on Castaway Island departing on August 2, 2011.

Greetings

I'm glad to see people from all over the globe as Disney fans.....as far as I'm concerned, WDW is the best resort area on this planet. Welcome all who comes to this place....

As for the cruise...we've only done one cruise in our history and as far as I'm concerned, again, Disney is the one and only....the best. We don't gamble so we're glad the ship isn't cluttered up with gambling stuff and what not....seems to keep families more together. What I enjoyed the most, it's all inclusive, one price. The only tip I can give is to have alot of 1 dollar bills for tipping.....room service is free, when we went, but you should tip the person bring your food and drinks to your cabin. And we were not impress with our ports of all, we did a 7 day eastern cruise....and from what I saw was nothing but tourist traps....junk...etc, I'd prefer to just stay on board and partake of everything there since it's all free. One of the best things was Cast Away Key....to us a treasure...could have spent the whole cruise there....food was out of this world, beaches heavenly, weather and atmosphere second to none...hated to leave... Enjoy your cruise.
