Switching Waitlist

We just bought DVC at the beginning of the month at Copper Creek. I'm trying to navigate booking for two vacations one for September of this year and one for February of 2019. If I'm understanding correctly, I can only have two active waitlists at a time. For September, since we were just under the 7 month window when we bought I have a studio booked at Saratoga Springs. We waitlisted for BLT and BWV. From my understanding, these are very unlikely to come through? We then hit the 11 month window for February so I booked a studio at Copper Creek with the plan being to try and switch somewhere else at 7 months. I believe if I want to enter a waitlist for February I will need to cancel one of the September waitlists. Is there a better one to cancel or if it has not come through by July will it not really matter?

Sorry if this is confusing!

You are correct that you can only have 2 active waitlists per membership.

Your chances of getting a studio at BWV during F&W are pretty slim and will depend highly on which view you waitlisted (std. and BW views have the lowest chances of getting filled while garden/pool view has the best chance but even then, not a good one).

The same goes for BLT (std. and theme park views are less likely to get filled, lake view stands a better chance).

And of course, the number of days you need will also have an impact on your chances. Needing one or two days in the middle of the week will meet with a better chance ofsuccess than trying to get a full week, including weekend nights.

The 7-month mark for a Feb. 1, 2019 stay is July 1. Your 7-month date is probably after that. People cancel or change plans all of the time. One of your waitlists may come thru by then. However, if neither comes thru then it's a real toss up. You could be content with staying at your home resort in Feb. (CCV is very nice) or you may be successful in booking that alternate resort at 7 months without a problem.

Should you decide to cancel one of the waitlists in July, consider this: BWV has more studios than BLT but they are in very high demand during F&W. My recommendation would be to look at the views that you have chosen to waitlist and decide accordingly based on the numbers of each at their respective resorts.

BWV has 52 std. view studios, 29 BW view and 164 Garden/Pool view
BLT has 30 std. view studios, 16 TPV and 101 Lake View

Waitlists can be a crap shoot, that's why it's important to buy your favorite resort, book there and switch at 7 months if there is availability. Think about it, for a waitlist to come through, you have to be at the top of the list and someone else has to cancel their reservation at the resort, room size, category and dates that you want.

They are both standard view waitlists at BWV and BLT. I'm glad I understood this correctly. We are only going for a long weekend in September 9/28-10/1 and aren't too particular where we stay whereas in February we will be there for a full week. We are fine if we end up staying at CCV since we bought there knowing we liked it.

Unfortunately for September it was last minute and CCV wasn’t available. We like SSR but it wasn’t our top choice.

Looking at the listings of studio breakdown I wonder if it would be better to switch the BWV waitlist to garden/pool view or if pushing us to the bottom would negate the numbers game. It’s a fun long weekend so we’ll be happy anywhere but I’m trying to manage this waitlist game

if your going to keep BWV wait list I would do pool/garden

Alright, I'm going to switch the BWV standard to BWV garden/pool. Ultimately, we're just happy for this "free" trip (meaning we had already purchased APs and had extra points) so wherever we stay is fine.
