Switching to Free Dining When You Already Have a Reservation

If I book a room with the dining plan now, and later they come out with free dining available at the resort, will I be able to get it? I know they don't automatically apply the promotion - but if I already am booked and then call to get the free dining, do they ever tell you the rooms are sold out for free dining ... even though you already were booked with a package there?

Your existing reservation can easily be modified IF there is availability under the free dining promo at the resort you currently have booked. If there is no availability under free dining for your resort/room type, then you would not be able to have free dining as having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a promo can be applied (free dining, room discount, etc). Disney releases discounts to fill rooms, so if a particular resort is at or near capacity, there is no need for a discount to be offered at that resort.
