Switching Resorts mid-stay and how to do it

I know this has been asked several times I'm sure, but since it's never applied to us before I haven't paid attention. Can anyone who has done this tell me the best way to do this? We are staying at BLT for 4 nights, then switching to AKV for the remainder of our trip. Will Disney move our luggage for us if ask? (I have been told that they will, but I have no idea how they would do this). Is this going to be to much of a hassle? It's just myself and DH, so no small children. Plus, we're going to MNNSHP the same night that we switch resorts. I'm really looking forward to staying at BOTH of these resorts, since we never have before! Please help!

Check out of BLT and tell the Bell Person that you want your luggage transferred to AKV. I would get to a bus and go to AKV and check in. They will give you your KTTW cards and with any luck, your room might be ready. You can have lunch at AKV and take the bus to MK at 3:30 PM. Your luggage will arrive around 4:00 PM and you need to call or stop by Bell Services to have it brought to the room.

We did the exact same split stay last year! We did express check out at BLT so no need to go the front desk. We called Bell Services and when they picked up the bags we told them we needed them sent to Kidani...super simple! We had our APs so no need for our new KTTW cards. Instead we headed for rope drop at DHS! Around 3:30 we headed for Kidani and checked in. We got to our room and called bell services and they brought up all of our bags plus our garden grocer delivery! Soooo easy!! It was so awesome to stay at both resorts! You can check out my trip report from my signature if you want!

The only hassle will be leaving the MK and taking the bus back to the AKV at which point you will probably be wishing you were walking home to BLT, other than that the others have it covered. Make sure there is nothing in your luggage you need, while it is being moved. We did not get ours until much later than expected.

Unless you have already bought your MNSSHP tickets I would so try to do that while staying at BLT.

Thanks everyone! I meant to say that we're probably (actually now 100% sure) we're going to drive down, so we'll have our own transportation. It sounds like it will not be to difficult. I'm excited!

If you have items for the fridge they will keep them cold for you as well if you let them know.

Here are some tips I've used that seem to work well. The morning of the switch, one of you (this will be easy as you have a car) drive to AKV and check in. If you get there very early (7 or earlier), you'll be there before the planes, ME or most folks driving in. This will mean no lines and many times a room right away (unless all the rooms of your type were booked the night before). If you have a special room request, this is a great way to help increase the likelihood of getting it.

Then return to blt, pack and call bell services (best if you do this before 11am when EVERYONE is checking out). They will take everything (including refrigerated items as mentioned) and deliver to AKV.

Normally i'd then spend the day at AK, but since you have MNSSHP, you might want to hang around BLT. Don't forget to hold on to your party wear (if anything special).

Go to MNSSHP and then drive back to AKV (probably better than taking the bus if you stay late).

If your room wasn't ready before, it will be now. Just call bell services and your luggage will be delivered.

This is great advice! I'll definitely hang on to our costumes if we decide to have them for the party: We had actually thought about checking in as soon as we could and then maybe going to DTD or something for a bit, then coming back to see if our room was ready, resting, getting ready, and eating at Mara before we head to the party. Of course we might change our minds, but right now that was my thinking.

We did this two years ago! We moved from the THV's to AKV the night of the MNSSHP... and never again! Our room carpet was being cleaned and we had to wait for the room and luggage which had our costumes in them. We were able to get let in early (3:30) and had to promise not to go onto the carpets! DD needed to change for the party and we had early dinner reservations, so it was a PITA! I have to say, choose a different night for the party if you can. We had to be out of the THV's by 11, had bell services come and get us and the luggage, and we told them that we were switching resorts and every thing made it from one to the other just fine. It was the waiting and party night that was a pain! We did not want to get a different dedicated 2BR as we were the first room off the lobby at Kidani....sweet! Our room wasn't officially released to us until almost 5:00.

And by the way, we went the opening night of the party and it was super hot that day, almost too hot to hang out by the pool. We wanted to rest up for the late night, but were not able to as we were homeless until from 11 until it was time to go to the party!
