Switching points on two current reservations?

We currently have a 2 bedroom and a studio booked at AKV that I booked at the 7 month mark, as we don't own at AKV.

The 2 bedroom was booked first (online) using HH and VB points from 2017 (current use year) and some borrowed 2018 points. The studio was booked second (call to MS) to borrow the rest of the 2018 points and buy some one-time use points.

My question is, if for some reason some of my family can't go and we don't need the studio, will MS be able to reallocate the points so that the studio uses the current use year points, which I could then bank if I need to cancel? In other words, can they switch it so that the 2 bedroom used the one-time use points, the 2018 borrowed points and some of the current use year points? The studio used less than our 2017 amount of points.

If MS can't do this, okay. If they can, should I call as soon as possible to reallocate, just in case of need to cancel?

ETA - there is not availability for either of my reservations at this time, so MS couldn't cancel and re-book if that is somehow the solution.

Thanks!

First, they cannot do any reallocation until you bring points out of a reservation and return them to being normal points, which in your case means you would have to cancel the studio first before doing any possible reallocation. If the studio is canceled, they will let you allocate any banked or borrowed points from it to the 2BR while removing regular points from the 2BR since all reservations were made within the 7 month window.

The issue will then be the one time use points. I have not done it but my reading of the rules (see https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/faq/one-time-use-points/how-to/) leads to the conclusion that you can, after cancelling the studio, put them in the 2BR reservation, i.e., they just have to be used by the end of the applicable use year.

Thanks, I appreciate your answer! It sounds like I shouldn't worry about it unless/until we need to cancel the studio, and then MS should be able to accommodate my points re-allocation (hopefully). Obviously, I'm hoping our plans don't need to change! :)

I've cancelled a reservation using OTU points. Although I didn't immediately apply them to another reservation, I was allowed to use them for another reservation ( within the 7 month window) before they expired. Of course, I couldn't see them in my online account after the cancellation and I did have to call MS to use them, but it all turned out just fine.

After one of the reservations is cancelled, MS should be able to reallocate using the freed up points. Just make sure you double-check everything after they are done, preferably with the rep still on the line so that he/she can correct any mistakes. (Have experienced our fair share of issues and their time-consuming resolutions.)

I have had MS do this for me in the past without any issues. Matter of fact, one time they did it without me even asking!
