Switching from Ohana to Boatwrights...am I NUTS?!!?

Ohana blows Boatrights right out of the water. Ohana is an experience and all you can eat, Boatrights is nothing more than a normal restaurant, with normal food, and with a wooden ship on the ceiling.

Goign to Boatrights is like sitting in a cracker barrel.

We had a very nice meal at Boatwrights last year. Pleasantly surprised. Some of the best service we've had at WDW as well. They have some unique items on the menu you don't find elsewhere in WDW. POR is a beautiful resort, Yeehaw Bob is right next door, and you can do carriage rides or take the boat to DTD and back, etc.

I think Boatwrights and Yee Ha Bob is a good choice.
We did both Boatwrights (canceling Garden Grill because we were just tired and wanted to go back to our resort) and 'Ohana the last week of September.
I did love 'Ohana, but it did take a good chunk of our evening with transportation (4 hours from leaving Epcot until back at our resort) and waiting for our table, not to mention taking the time to try to eat all that yummy food. We were there during MK fireworks which made it more special, so we didn't really see much of the entertainment... but it was a guy singing when we were there and he wasn't bad.
The Prime rib at Boatwrights was pretty good. It is more of your standard restaurant, but it was a quicker meal... and the quiet atmosphere was a nice change of pace with so many other entertaining meals earlier in the week.
We ended up at the pools until the kids were tired because they were having so much fun that we never made it to see YeeHa Bob, but I've heard so many good things about his show.
While it's fun to do all the popular restaurants, it's also good to slow down the pace for an evening and enjoy. POR is a nice resort to relax at.

... Goign to Boatright's is like sitting in a cracker barrel.

Cracker Barrel doesn't have Boatwright's wonderful prime rib! :goodvibes BW's menu and atmosphere is definately a notch above CB (and i happen to like CB too). So I respectfully disagree with your analogy of the two.

For us, it's BW on our first night! But to each his/her own.

Some day we might try Ohana also -- I've heard good and bad about it, which i guess is like that for all restaurants.

While Ohana dinner is one of our must-do's and my first choice would be to eat there, I certainly don't think you are making a mistake in picking Boatwright's. Convenience is highly underrated on a WDW vacation so eating there before Piano Bob's show will certainly make things easier.:thumbsup2

Also, Ohana is one of my kids favorite meals at WDW, and they always ask to go back. If one of my kids said they hated it, that would make the decision to eat there a no-brainer.

We actually are eating at Boatwright's for dinner on our next trip, a first for us. We are eating there with our friends, who ate there on their last trip and they loved it.

I think you made the right choice.:goodvibes

Ohana is one of our least favorite restaurants at WDW based solely on food quality so I would choose Boatwright's.

The Boatwright is nothing special. We only eat there when we stay at POR and have a down day and don't want to leave the resort. I would keep Ohana. You can always go see Yeeha Bob after.
