Switching from April 2015 to December 2014?

Hello! We were originally planning on going to Disneyland in April for my son's 5th birthday but we just found out I'm pregnant. Instead of going with a baby, I'd rather go before the new baby is born. Does anyone know if it will be as insanely busy the week BEFORE Christmas? I know the week of Christmas is crazy, but we are looking at the 15-18.

Thank you!

It should be busy, but not as crazy as later. We went during that timeframe three years ago - and I would go then again.

Congratulations!

All I can say is that I used to go to DLR on the weekend immediately before Christmas (that was my tradition for a few years), and I stopped it after 2009 because the crowds got to be too much for my liking -- and that was before the re-imagining of DCA.

I don't know what weekdays will be like during the week before Christmas.

The general pattern seems to be that the first couple of weeks of December are less hectic/packed, and then -- from the middle of December on up to Christmas -- crowds gradually start to increase a little bit at a time, as more people take their breaks from school and work.

However, last year the established patterns were a bit different, and it seemed that it was a little less crowded during time frames when it had previously been crazy, and it was really busy during times that had previously not been as crowded.

A lot of people have picked up on the fact that the first couple of weeks of December are a decent time to go for the full array of holiday merriment with slightly lower crowds, and so my suspicion is that more people will go in early December and will avoid the middle of December and beyond because they will be afraid of crowds, which, in turn, will shift the crowds around.

...In which case, you might be in luck during your dates!

Thank you for your responses! I'm sure our 4 year old won't mind either way. My parents said we went one year at Christmas and it was crazy busy, but I don't remember it that way. :)

How pregnant will you be and historically, how have you felt at that time? Because busy parks and pregnancy may not be super fun for a lot of people. (I know that for me, it would be my worst nightmare...ha!)

I'll be about five months pregnant at the time, right in the second trimester. I traveled then with my first baby too and it was fine. My son is a small four year old, so I figure we'll be able to do the same things and both take naps! :)

That's good then. I was so sick for almost all of my pregnancy. So I'm jealous! Haha!

Congratulations , bethanyfromac, on the new baby! How exciting!::yes::

We really enjoy the week before Christmas! It is nowhere near as busy as the week after!

I definitely would not call it insane, or horrible(based on our experience of going during this time each year).

The crowds do tend to pick up after the first two weeks in December, but they are still manageable, and we have always been able to accomplish what we want to.

I think you will be just fine, and will have a great trip, if you know going in that it will be busy, have a general/flexible plan, take a positive attitude, and make time to enjoy the beautiful Holiday Time offerings!::yes::

Crowd numbers and the number of bodies in the park are factual.

Crowd perceptions/observations are often subjective.

Crowd tolerance levels are very individualized and personal!

You are very welcome!

Isn't it funny---Adult perception vs. Child perception?

I only remember all the fun, from when we visited Disneyland, as a child(I can't recall any lines or anything else negative), but I'm sure my Parents take would be a bit different;)!

I also don't remember the heat from the Summers, as a child, but now, as an adult, I loath Summer, and live for Fall and Winter(well, the few days Arizona has, that one could in any way possible call "Winter"!):crazy2:

Our children always took their cues from us, when we visited the Resort during busier times, so I think it's great that your son probably won't mind either way!

Have fun planning!:thumbsup2

:rotfl2:She said "Thank you for your responses" before you ever responded!:rotfl2: Did an email alert come through late (like a delayed alert, which often happens to me)? Last week I had a bunch of late email alerts coming through after the fact or out of sequence, notifying me of posts that I had already seen in threads hours earlier. One time I almost clicked on a post and started responding, and then I realized it had come in hours earlier and I had previously seen it. :headache:
