Hello everyone! Here is the story; we got a BB offer when we stayed at YC this may and booked the YC again for December. Called yesterday because we now want to be near MK because we are going to MVMCP and plan on spending a fair amount of time at MK. My family really wanted the WL, but there were no room types available that were associated with the BB offer, so we are now booked at the Poly and I must admit that I am a little nervous :confused3 I know next to nothing about the resort and some of the reviews we have read have not been that great  Any input would be greatly appreciated :goodvibes

The Poly was a very nice resort when I stayed there. The room was large and always very clean each day. The food court can get a bit crowded and the people who come to Ohanas can cause a traffic jam on the upper level. Otherwise, it was a wonderful resort as far as CMs and Mousekeeping goes. The food at the food court was always good, we planned around crowds for meals or took the meal back to the room and ate on the balcony.

I think you will enjoy the Poly, would love to see it decorated for the Holidays.

If your family really wanted to stay at the WL (or anywhere else for that matter) I would imagine not getting their wish could mitigate the happiness. JMO. As for me, I've stayed just about everywhere, and the Poly is my happy place.

The poly is our favorite resort. We have stayed there 4 times. Your going to love it.

We visited Poly last week, and myself, DH and DD really liked it. So much, that the next Deluxe visit will be POLY. (that's a hard thing to say because we LOVE BC/YC so much)

I think the change will be nice!

I would try to not let the reviews bug you. We are staying at CBR and there are more negatives then positives. But the pool looks amazing and I'm really getting excited for it. I will admit it wasn't my first choice but when I called to switch my FD I could only get POFQ or CBR. We have stayed at POFQ a lot and I want a change of resort.

I would venture to say that the Poly is the most popular resort on the DIS boards. I certainly would not let a few negative reviews sway you!

The Poly is our favorite resort (along with the BC) for so many reasons-- location, dining options, stellar room views, great pool, monorail access, that incredible castle view, ambiance... the list goes on!

Have a great time! :thumbsup2

I think the POLY's location is excellent. You can easily take the monorail to MK and walk to the TTC to grab the monorail to EPCOT. Talk about convenient!

We have stayed at the Poly twice and are headed back there again this summer. We really liked it and so did our kids (16, 14, 10).:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

After staying at WL last year, I would choose Poly every time... and I've never stayed at Poly. I do think (based on what I've seen) it's a hotel I will want to try in the future, so I wouldn't mind the switch. WL wasn't bad, but I felt like it had no Disney themeing - maybe it's because I live close to an area with a lot of wilderness sights, so it didn't feel like a vacation place for me.

We've stayed there 10 times over the past 20 years - it is a great resort. :goodvibes

You'll love the Poly! Be careful, once you stay there, you may not want to stay anywhere else! :goodvibes

If you have any questions, come check out the Poly Info Thread located here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2863058

If your question isn't answered on the first page, there are a bunch of Polynesian-obsessed Disers that hang out over there who will probably be able to answer anything you throw at them.

DH and I have stayed there several times and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were closest to the ferries so if we wanted to take the monorail it was a little bit of a trek. But the room was spacious (just the 2 of us) and we could watch Wishes at night as well as the water parade. I wanted to stay there again this year but we just couldn't pull it off so it was wait another year or stay elsewhere. Despite what some have posted, we never had an issue with mousekeeping. The room was very clean and they even brought me extra pillows for my bad back. Hope you choose the Poly...We loved it! :)

Pool bar was great too. Nice place in the evening to have a fruity cocktail and let your feet soak in refreshing water. We even stayed for a while and watched one of the movies that they set up (Toy Story 3) I think. We would have stayed longer but there was a large drinking crowd behind us so we really couldn't enjoy the movie so much. I kept thinking why didn't they have things like that when I was a kid? My parents would have loved it!! I would go to the Poly every year if I could so take advantage of it if you can!! :)

We stayed at the Poly in 07 and 2x's in 08. We really enjoy it. We always..ALWAYS...plan a day or 2 just hanging at the Poly either for a drink or for Ohana's or Kona.

We have stayed at the YC in 09 & 10 and at POR last summer.

This year we were booked at YC but then after xmas the Poly itch started and then I made the move and surprised DW for Mothers Day and switched to Poly.

Then, she gave me an early Fathers Day gift and bought us 2 more nights at the beginning of our trip. So now we have 13 Poly nights waiting for us from 8-12 to 8-25.

We know the Poly is about to undergo a complete renovation and possible teardown of certain buildings (if all the rumors are true)....so we figured lets stay there now before it starts.

Because once the renovation starts we wouldnt want to stay there until its all done and that could be a few years.

For us, we enjoy the balcony. We know there are no gaurantees, but we feel confident we will be able to get a balcony in 1 of the 4 buildings we have requested. (Samoa, Fiji, Aetearoa or Tuvalu)

Icing on the cake would be a marina view in Fiji, a Volcano pool view in Samoa or a MK view in Tuvalu or in possibly Aetearoa, which does have a few rooms with a MK view.

All we can do is make the request and then hope for the best. But, in all of our years going, we can honestly say we have maybe had 3 or 4 bad room locations.

One of them was at the Poly in 08. We were in Tahiti...the VERY LAST room on the 3rd floor closest to the TTC with a lagoon and MK view.

We had to listen to that sliding door opening and closing..opening and closing...you get the drift.

This went on for 4 nights until I could not take it anymore. Plus we had some foreigners as neighbors who were just loud and unruly. 1 night I called security at 2am to shut them up. It was the next day we griped and then got moved to MK view in Aetearoa 3rd with a Poly Luau view.

Like they say in real estate...LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION.

The Poly experience will be as good as you want to make it BUT a nice building location always helps.

You must do research and then "politely" ask the check in people if a room in another building is available if you know you are going to one of those buildings that are in a different county. (Tahiti is in a different county. trust me)

64 days and counting for us !!!!

This resort was so relaxing and there were animals on the grounds. I felt safe with my kids roaming while I swam.

We stayed at the Poly last August and LOVED it. We keep talking about BC/YC for next trip and always come back to the Poly. ENJOY THE POLY! It's AMAZING!

Here is a good site to get you thinking Poly. I wish there were a similar one for Yacht Club!

Each of the long house pages has a link to see the actual room numbers.

Our favorite was Tahiti long house, theme park view, ground floor. We were closest to the TTC, which was our preference. They always did a good job getting us our room every year. It's good to give a range of rooms, not just one, when you make your request.

We love the Poly. We have stayed there three times, and next time we go, I'd love to stay there again.

It is very relaxing, a little piece of tropical paradise:love:
