Switch to Poly, or stick with VGF?

Right now we have a res for a lake view studio at VGF in May at 100 pts, which will leave us with 10 for the year. We had hoped for standard view, but we took what was available and have the standard view waitlisted.

There was potential for our dates to change, so I looked at the other weeks and saw that, while I couldn't get in at VGF, Poly had availability...and even had availability for our initial dates in standard view, saving us 16 points which could leave us enough for a stay at a resort with lower points later in the year.

In looking at pictures, I'm worried about the construction being incomplete, specifically the volcano pool not meeting its anticipated completion in April. When we last stayed at the Poly (for the now 9yo's 6th birthday), it was all we could do to keep him out of the pool there long enough to hit up the parks, and he LOVES the splash pad and pool area at VGF, so I know he's going to want the "fun" pool experience (quiet pools do nothing for him).

So do we switch to Poly or stick with VGF? WWYD?

Keep your VGF reservation.

We switched from BLT to PVB for our upcoming May vacation. Honestly, I am regretting the switch because there still seems to be a significant amount of construction around the resort. Moreover, even if the feature pool opens in time, the quiet pool will close shortly after, which will bring more construction walls and equipment.

Stick with VGF. You didn't say when in May, which may make a difference. But you did say it could save you 16 points, and you have 10 left, for a total of 26 points. That 26 points really won't get you much of anything, unless you are easy driving distance, in which case you could possibly get a 1-2 night getaway. VGF seems to be hard enough to get now, worthwhile to keep it. And as SpaceMountain77 said, we don't know yet how much construction will still be going on. On the other hand, it is terribly exciting to try the new resort. If it is May 15 or later, they will have 6 weeks under their belt and should be running smoother and more construction complete, we hope.

May 10-14 are the current dates (which can't shift later if we want to get one last use out of our APs) And while the 26 points won't go too far - especially at our home resort (VGF), we have flexibility to travel during the week and had a blast last year on a 2 night/3 day trip last year off-peak or we could bank them to add an extra night or two next year. I'm ridiculous, but I always feel like extra money/points for a view is ridiculous when we are at a point in life where we are rarely in our rooms during a time when the view would be worth it. But at the same time, I don't want the trip to be miserable if we have no access to the pool or construction noise/barriers are too much of an issue.
