Switch reservations from Jan to March?

I want to cancel a reservation I made for Marathon weekend in Jan and use those points in March when my DN and her boyfriend come down instead. I can't book March now because I don't know the exact dates they will be here yet.

Will that work or will I lose the points?

If you cancel the January reservation now, your points will go into the Holding Account which will add an additional layer of challenge in using them at a later date - you won't be able to make a reservation using those points until 60 days before arrival.

Since you don't yet know the dates in March it may not matter, but be aware that March is a busy month with Spring Break reservations and availability will become more and more limited as time goes on.
