Switch from S/D to Disney Resort to limit risk for access?

Ok.. I'll throw this one out there. I have res @ Swan in late June and am wondering if Disney might prioritize their own resorts over others in terms of access to parks? (If they're open.) Maybe I get a CL at one of the resorts with the thinking that I'll have access to concierge that might offer additional info? (If they have the lounges open....)

Someone care to talk me down from this level of speculation?

I don't think access is going to the limiting factor. You might want to consider if the Swan / Dolphin will even be open in late June.

They are convention venues and unless there is a pickup in conventions, conferences or large business meeting, they may not be back to a normal schedule.

When WDW was closing down last month, the Dolphin closed first due to low occupancy and any remaining guests were moved to the Swan before it was also closed down a few days later.

A lost of speculation in this premise.

First, do I think Disney will limit access to the parks to just Disney resort guests? No, I don't think so. They will want to accommodate as many people as they safely can in the parks, regardless of where they are staying.

Second, if they do prioritize access, then I would expect the Swolphin would negotiate exact same access. But still, I don't think they are going to limit to just resort guests.

Third, I would thing CL would be open in the Disney resorts when the resort itself opens. I don't see a greater hazard in a CL than any other venue.

@Dave006 - I hadn't even thought of that! Thanks for putting that bug in my ear - you're probably right on the money on that one.

@OKW Lover - The only reason I had considered that Disney would restrict to resort reservations is this line of thinking: say they decide (or are told) they can let in, I don't know, 2,000 people per park per day. If they let in AP holders they're not taking in any extra money save F&B/merch. If they let in resort guests they'll get a higher % of daily tix (assuming it's not 100% filled with AP holders)+ daily hotel fee. Of course that would create issues with the AP holders. If they make it completely equitable and say the first 2,000 people regardless of details get in, then I would think they'll have very few people willing to stay at hotels - why would I fly down and risk getting stuck at the resort all day for $150-$1500+ a night depending on resort hotel? I do admit there are plenty of worse places to get stuck... but too much $$ to be worth it for me anyway. SO... maybe the opposite will be true - they'll keep the resorts closed and let in limited AP holders by lottery to save themselves headaches with vacationers. Now that I think of it, that's probably the best bet for them...(?)

Who knows? It's fun albeit slightly pointless to guess though...

They will not limit parks to 2000 people, IMHO. People will still congregate somewhere. I doubt it’s even cost effective to open all attractions for that many people. suppose they don’t open all attraction.? Who would pay Disney prices for a lesser experience.

I'm just curious why you're focusing so much on AP holders filling up resorts? If it's a non-florida resident AP then they essentially just paid in advance for admission for multiple stays, and I don't think anyone would get priority based on tickets. If they are at a resort, and Disney did decide to limit access to only their resort guests, then they have the same chance of getting in regardless of ticket type. 2,000 guests is hardly a blip on the radar in any park, I doubt they would do that, I do think they will keep the parks from being completely slammed but that shouldn't affect things so much that you need to go pay for a CL room (they get no more perks as far as park access anyway). We obviously don't know when WDW will open, and we don't know how Marriott will handle their reopening either, I would be more concerned with them no opening when WDW does more so than getting access to the parks. I wouldn't run out and get CL either unless you just have your heart set on using the lounge and really just want to do it. You also need to remember black out dates for many people in Florida due to their pass type, which will limit locals flocking during the summer, and with so many people out of work I really don't think the parks will be packed anyway. Put that in with some people still being nervous about the virus, or unable to travel from other countries due to travel restrictions, and I highly doubt you have anything to worry about.

I just don't see this happening. They just extended all theme park tickets (not just tickets for resort guests) that were date-issued during the closure until December 15. It would be a nightmare to then turn around and retroactively put black-out dates on those tickets. Will they limit capacity in the parks and will we see closures like we typically see over holiday periods? Maybe. Will they change the closure phases to limit capacity even more? Maybe. But will they outright say people who are currently holding valid ticket media can now not enter any of the theme parks? Who knows. I don't think WDW even knows what they are going to do right now. They will have to wait and see what FL does in terms of loosening restrictions and go from there.
