With all these upgrades, I can't imagine the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House will stay in its current form for long.

It is one of my favorite attractions, but could perhaps use some updates. I like it especially if I am in an ironic mood, and also it very much taps into the old Disney feel.

Any rumors on what might happen to it, or thoughts on how it could potentially be updated?

P.S. I understand this is attraction is probably overlooked altogether by most visitors, I would just hate to see all the vintage rides go away.

No offense, because I'm normally a big time WDW lover and "apologist", but I have to say that in this case the only improvement I can see for it is to tear it down and put something...anything...in its' place. I did it once...never again. It was just an exercise in climbing and descending stairs.

Agree with original poster - still love that movie. My kids love it now, too. It's a nice break from a fast pass - would love an imagineer to give it a fresh update.

You mean "Stairs: The Ride" - there are no rumors about them doing anything with it. In the Disneyland version they changed it to Tarzan's Treehouse, but it is mostly the same except for some Tarzan characters and you can bop to the Phil Collins music. Nice views of the park can be had from either of them though.

I'm surprised Disney has never done an updated Swiss Family Robinson movie.

"Stairs: The Ride" :rotfl2:

I love it but I admit it's like 90% nostalgia. Beyond that it would be hard to make an argument for keeping it if they wanted to put something new in its place.

I love the Swiss Family Treehouse. I think it is an exercise in ingenuity. I love looking at the "problem solving" features. And pointing them out to my kids.

It can be a nice break on a crowded day as you can usually get a breeze up there. All that walking what difference does a few stairs make?

I'm cracking up at "Stairs: The Ride." :lmao:

if they upgrade it to include air-conditioning and an elevator, I might give this "attraction" a second try. The first (and only) time I was on it, I was 10 years old.

Actually, didn't they recently refurbish it?
Yup. It was closed last august for refurb while I was there. Both DS and I were disappointed that it wasn't open. I'm the weirdo who actually LIKES stairs. In fact, I always opt for the stairs over the elevator even after a long Disney day

We like it too. Our plans include walking through this on our arrival night. We figure it's a great way to see Magic Kingdom at night. :)

One of my FAVORITE things! Too bad it's so crowded that it's basically a giant line and you HAFTA HAFTA HAFTA keep moving. I want to be able to stand there for half an hour, marveling at all the fun things in the setup!

A bit biased since it was also one of my favourite classic novels as a child. Everything Robert Louis Stevenson wrote, I am in love with!

I 100% understand why people dislike it. I must say I really enjoy it though. I just enjoy the atmosphere of it all and it's usually relatively empty even during busy times.

The ONLY thing they could do to make it a worthwhile attraction, would be to put in an escalator that goes up to an air conditioned sports bar that rotates around with a panoramic view of the Magic Kingdom. Now that would be a good attraction.
