I'm really not a "germ"aphobe, but is anyone worried about swine flu while at the World? We will be going May 12-19th and I'm kinda freaked out! I have a 9 months old and I really don't need her catching anything like that!

we are suppose to go on the 9th. Trying hard not to panic I really need a vaction. My dh just says I worry to much

Headed there on the 10th and really looking forward to it :) I'm praying and that's all I can do :) I cannot WAIT to be at WDW and we are almost in the single digit dance!!!

We now have 3 confirmed cases in our town! The schools have shut down until May 11th. I live in Texas so it is not too big of a surprise being so close to Mexico. Ugh!! I really, really hope things don't get worse before the 12th!

We are supposed to be leaving on the 8th. I am kinda concerned, first about the flight actually. Then when I think about all the crowds and being a germaphobe to begin with, it is making me antsy. We were there in December and DH got that norovirus that literally zapped him of all energy and he was just very ill. Missed the last 2 nights of the trip so that also is a consideration. I may just take the loss of 1 or 200 until this all dies down. Just dont want to spend all kinds of money while a flu, swine or otherwise may be running rampant. We'll decide in a few days to see how this is starting to play out.

I am starting to freak, only b/c we are so close to NY where many confirmed cases are. I am also nervous about the flight, think they will ground everyone for awhile at some point due to this?

We are here in Orlando now. Our plan was to go to MK Sunday for EMH and Epcot on Friday. Before I left home on Saturday, I was feeling run-down because of not sleeping well and preparations for the trip.

We were a MK on Sunday night and DTD yesterday. So far, the trip has been fine. Although, I can't blame anyone for being really concerned about their children. We're 2 adults.

We're planning to go to Epcot on Friday but will be watching the news reports and make a final decision. The airport is another thing that weighs on my mind.

I did hear the case here in Orlando was a family from Mexico who arrived here 2 days ago. Just about the same time we arrived and I thought things were going smoothly. One good thing is that we always rent a car. This gives us some flexibility.

I doubt they will ground future travel.

I would wash my hands frequently while on vacation and stay out the airplane bathrooms (they have enough germs in there on a good day) supposedly they don't clean them between flights during the day. I do remember reading that Howie Mandell (I think thats his last name) flys with a mask over his nose and mouth because he's a germaphobe. Keep wipes on hand and maybe avoiding the 3D shows where you have to cram into a room shoulder to shoulder before the show would be a good attraction to avoid. Hopefully they can get a lid on this soon. I hope everyone has a happy and healthy trip! Linda :)

We are leaving on 5/10 and I feel a little nervous too. But, definitely try to keep it in perspective ... this seems to be no more severe than the regular flu and it is really only a handful of people that have been affected if you look at the big picture.

Regardless, I found portable clorox wipes at Target in the travel section. They are 10 / pack for $1 and change and I feel better having them. This way, I can wipe down the hotel remote control & phone as well as any tables we eat at, handle bars on rides ... I may be a bit extreme with this but it makes me feel like I am doing something reasonable.

Have a great trip!

W have a May 12-19th trip, also. I have been monitoring everything. We are willing to take the $100-$200 loss if necessary. I am less nervous today than I was this past week. That said, we are already using sanitizer, Clorox wipes, etc. We are driving, so we don't have to worry about airline issues. We will use our car to drive while on property so we can avoid the overcrowded busses to and from the park. We will wipe down everything we use, wash hands, etc.

One suggestion-- if you go, remember you (the adult) might want to use the bathrooms in the baby changing stations when you change the baby. Less traffic usually goes through there during the course of the day when compared with the general ones. Also, in the past, when we travelled with our little one, we made sure to bring her combo stroller so she could ride at the top and be changed in the bottom. That way, we never had to place her on the hard plastic baby changing table in the restroom.

you have just as much of chance getting it at your local grocery store or mall. Just enjoy your vacation. I work in healthcare and we are not worried about it all. I know having a 9month old you are going to be more nervous, just wash your hands alot. Have a great time!!!:thumbsup2
