Swine Flu

SARS! Yes hahaha! That was 6 years ago, bird flu was more recent. You're right.

Oh okay. I don't even know what SARS is :rolleyes1 , just that there were a bunch of Asian people from Canada wearing facemasks.

I would not be stepping foot inside Mexico. Not with the Swine Flu, and that's not the only reason. When you get sick you get dehydrated and you have to drink lots of water. Montezuma's revenge anyone? No thanks.

Oh... god. Guess what? A just found out a girl in my class went to Mexico over spring break. And I sit next to her in one class. :scared:

They really need to quarantine this and not let people go to Mexico or leave Mexico. Same with imports/exports.

You're really brave then, or foolish.

If I had a vacation to Mexico, i would totally cancel it. Mexico's cases are far worse and they dont understand why the us cases are mild, if its the same strain:confused3
Probably because we are better nourished, and have access to things better, ect.

But who really knows? That is just a guess.:confused3

Dont worry about it... a guy in my math class (who i sit next to) Went for spring break too... but after 2 days, it is not contagious any more. :)

Actually it is contagious, just not highly contagious after two days.

And that's most likely with treatment. What happens if someone with no healthcare or not enough money to buy Tamiflu gets sick?

Im not concerned at all about this

Every year there's some sort of disease outbreak and after a few weeks no one remembers it

hey im going to california in 5 weeks and i havent cancelle it yet! no worries!

U.S. cases are mild so thats good
.

Um not all of them are mild. There has been one hospitalization in my state in which the women was in there for 2 weeks. She got it April 2nd or something like that.

There was an outbreak like 20 minutes away from me. Only one confirmed though, the others seem to be just normal flu.

There is 8 confirmed cases in my state...

terrible

^ by mild, i meant no deaths.

and if u read the articles, they say that US cases are mild. and the researches dont know why.

Apparently I may have had it. But I also had a flu shot which maybe lessened the symptoms and severity of the illness.

I don't really know what it was either. Same as you...it was in Asia and Asian people in Canada with masks.

I also would not be going to Mexico for the water problem but also the violence. It just doesn't appeal to me at all. My friend is going to central Mexico and it just seems so STUPID to be going there.

Yeah i'm not real thrilled about going there. Swine flu or not. It has never appealed to me.

For people who are wondering, SARS stands for severe acute respiratory syndrome. There were over 8,000 people infected with this last 'near-pandemic' and about 700 killed. It presents with flu-like symptoms and there is no cure. This last 'near-pandemic' started in China but quickly spread to 37 countries around the world and it lasted from November 2002 to July 2003.

:)

I'm terrifed of the drug wars. Especially since it showed up in a small town in Alabama/Arkansas?

Just had to LOL @ this.
the whole SARS thing happened when I was in grade 8...and all I remember about it was Asians wearing hospital masks.
Up here in recent memory we've had SARS, West Nile & The Avian Flu.
I'm really not too scared about all these deadly disease outbreaks, I think the media tends to play fear-monger and scares us all.
There are reported cases of the swine flu in Canada apparently, but I'm really not worried about it. I dunno, I know these diseases are something to be careful about, but I see no point in panicking over them.

Hopefully the swine flu gets contained asap though so no one else is affected.

West Nile....oh, the good old days!

I knew people that pretty much locked themselves in their houses for that one! It was ridiculous!

I just found out that my mom's sister and her husband had the swine flu in 1976 while my uncle was in the army. He had a 105 degree fever and had to be packed in ice. My aunt was less severe.

I remember my grandpa kept telling me to put on bug spray. Good freaking grief I can't believe people thought they were going to die from that.
