Are the water parks open in early December?
I wasn't sure if it was swimming weather or not.
The kids love the pools, so I know we will spend some time at Stormalong Bay, no matter how cold it gets!

Usually only one water park is open that time of year. I can't remember which one is closed in Dec. and which one in January. The web site should have the schedule up at least a month before.

Pool weather is hit or miss. I ahve had way too cold and ohh so perfect as well as I am in Florida-I will go in a pool type weather. Pools are heated.

re: water parks . I am not sure of what is and is not open. I amsure whatever is open has short hrs.

Hard for me to say since I'm from Maine: for us, anytime that the pond isn't frozen over is swimming weather.
I expect with you coming from New Hampshire, you fell the same.

Today my kids were swimming in the ocean in Maine. The water temperature was about 55 degrees. Whenever we are in WDW in December we go swimming. The water feels just fine. Sometimes you have to hurry to get the towel around you though.;) Have fun.

I really like swimming while I am at the BCV. Last December is was very cool, although I did go in the hot tub a few times. Sandie

The average high is 73 and the average low is 51, about what it is like in February. It is a hit or miss situation with the weather. The pools are heated to about 80 degrees.

If it gets too cold, they will close slides. In extreme cases the water park may close as well. The problem is that the lifeguards can't sit out if the temperatures are in the 40's. I'm sure there is a "cut-off" temp but I'm not sure what that would be.

As mentioned, December is very hit or miss. One year I was there and the lowest temp we hit was a nighttime in the 60's. On another trip we never got that high during the day -- nights were well below freezing. But, the pools were still open and some folks took midnight dips as the steam rose from the pool -- they sure ran fast back to their rooms.

Chances of milder temps are greater in the early part of the month. It can even be in the 90's in late November/early December. It seems as Christmas Week starts, so do the lower temps.

I know this past December, TL was the one open. I was on a bus that stopped there on the way to DTD. No one got off, and it didn't look like much of anyone was there. It was in the 50's that day, definitely not swimming weather, IMHO. I was staying at BCV and both days I was at SAB, hardly anyone was in the pool.

Family and I were down Dec 1-9 last year, and we swam on 3 different days, and probably could have had a couple of more if we wanted. There were only two days where the temps were in high 50s or low 60s. The rest of the time mid-high 70s.

We swim all the time in Dec the pools are all heated so it really isn't a problem swimming in Dec we use the water parks every trip to. Mind you we have never had bad weather on any of our trips in Dec last trip it was mid 60's and the previos trip was mid to high 80's.

Air temps hit 80 degrees after Xmas last year. It was well above normal, I'm sure. But it can happen. Anybody else there at the end of the year?

We were there from Dec 25 to Jan2 last year and felt truly blessed tohave such beautiful warm weather. The evenings we needed a sweater or sweatshirt but that was it. The same time frame in 2001 we needed multiple layers for many of the days. We did do BB on Christmas Eve that year and the life guards all had jackets and long pants on when we arrived. We had our choice of seating in any area of the park I don't think there were more that 100-150 people there that day - we had a blast. A few days later driving by we noticed the parking lot was full as the temp had gone up into the 70's.
