Swimming Pool hours?

In general, what are the hours of pool operation at the resorts? Also, how firm are these stated hours?

In other words, if I were in serious need of a late-night dip, would I be risking sirens, bells, whistles and an escort to the main gate..?

Which resort? Most are pretty flexible, and the quiet pools at the moderates for example are 24 hours. Stormalong Bay at the Yacht & Beach has specific opening hours, as do the main pools in a lot of the hotels. Some main pools can still be used after the lifeguards go off duty of course, but the slides/etc are closed.

So, is it safe to assume that if I can physically "access" the pool area - and am reasonably quiet about it - I should be safe in having my moonlight swim?

We've always seen people in the pool at all hours of the night--sometimes just a few ppl, sometimes tons, sometimes quiet, sometimes loud...

I'd say the rules are pretty much a wash.

Yep, especially at the quiet pools where no one will worry if you're there at 1am! The main pools at POR and POFQ (for example) officially close their facilities at 10pm, and the life guards go off duty, but all that means is that the slide will be shut. I've seen plenty of people in the main pool at POR at midnight and beyond, and with the evening flood-lighting it's really pretty there too. The staff tend to do their pool cleaning tasks early in the morning (maybe 6am onwards?) so I'd avoid trying for a very early dip.
