Swimming in November

Hi folks,

Staying at The Fountains in early November and was wondering if it is still warm enough to use the pools during the day? Here I am making sure my granddaugher has a waterslide and it might not even be warm enough to use it.

My last trip was in early November and I went swimming every day at SSR. Is the pool at your resort heated? I did wear a lightweight jacket to the pool and back!!

Last November we stayed at POFQ. We did swim but they sure could have turned the heat up a little. The water was freezing to us.

There's a big difference in getting in a heated pool and swimming and going down a waterslide when the air temperature is only in the 70s.

It all depends on how cold tolerant your granddaughter is and if the temperatures are in the normal range or it's colder than normal.

My kids are extremely cold tolerant when swimming, but we've been in November and they wouldn't go in the water, other times they've been the only ones in the water. We were there once in an unseasonable warm November and pools were crowded.

Point of reference my kids swam in the ocean off of Myrtle Beach last Thanksgiving and have been the only ones without a wet suit swimming in the Pacific in October.

Am I missing something? I thought the average temp for early Nov was around 79/80? Do I have bad numbers? Where I'm from that is very much swimming weather! There have been summers where if you didn't swim when it was in the 70's you wouldn't have swam all summer! (of course this summer it's been 90 all summer long, but that's not normal

We go every November and use the pools all of the time. It does cool in the evenings, but our day temps are usually around 75-85.

My pool is done by the second week in Sept, most years. I live in Central Fla.

We have been going to FL the first week in November ffor years now.and have always bbeen able to use the pool. The weather is usually beautiful!

Just depends on what kind of weather you get when you're there. Last year we were there the first week of December and it was gorgeous--70's every day, some high 70's. My kids swam almost every day at OKW.

We were last there in January and we swam everyday at BCV! It was almost 90 degrees everyday. I plan on swimming this trip in November, I do not care what the weather is!!!!

Fountains actually has both indoor and outdoor pools! Even if its "too cold" outside, you will enjoy the pool indoors. Its actually a single heated pool with a portion of it indoors and a door that can be closed if its inclement outside.

We have been to Orlando twice in January (which typically has much cooler temps than November)....once in 2009 (stayed at POR) and once in 2012 (offsite at an I-Drive hotel). We swam daily on both trips. Pools are heated so you can swim even on the "cold" days (and being from Canada, let me tell ya....when I use the word "cold" in reference to a January day in Florida, I use the term loosely).

We did have two days in our January trip this year that we wore our winter coats to the parks. But that didn't stop us from swiming in the evenings. Might have stopped us from whizzing down a waterslide (just because the air temp would have been too cool) but swimming? Definitely.

WE were at WDW for Thankgiving 2010. It was 86 degrees in the daytime. I wished we had our swimsuits.

It's generally still 70-80 in November. Nights will get cool though.

Its actually a single heated pool with a portion of it indoors and a door that can be closed if its inclement outside.

The Fountains now has two pools -- the heated one Weegl describes, and then the big "Wakoola Springs" pool, which is not heated. When we were there in May a few years back, the kids were fun with the unheated pool when it came to the slides, but found the "water play area" too cold. The heated pool was, not surprisingly, pretty busy a lot of the time! About on par with most Disney resort pools, actually. Meaning that those northerners who were happy with the unheated pool pretty much had it to themselves.

I hope I don't jinx our next trip by saying this, but...... We have swam every November trip we have taken. It might not have been "hot" but we swam or hot tubed or hot hubed and swam.

To add, I have never worn pants on any November trip, a sweatshirt or flannel (I'm a fashion victim) but not pants.

Your best time to swim is definitely mid afternoon in November and of course depending on the high that day. Definitely take your swimming gear. Morning and evening swims probably would be chilly.
