What is the lowest temperature anyone has or would think about swimming in? Going down in early feb and been watching the predicted weather reports and Im wondering if we'll be able to do much swimming while were down there. I know that the pools are heated - staying at POFQ - but I dont know if it would make that much of a difference:worried:

The last time we were down in February we got out of Philly on the last flight before the big blizzard hit. I think it was 3 years ago. Some days it was COLD down there. We had on hoodies and coats and gloves at times. However as the day wore on and it got into the high 40's or 50's the kids did swim! (Mom did not!) The jumped in and put bathrobes right on as they got out. Honestly, my kids did NOT care that it was cold. The water is so warm. It getting out that is hard.... I said it was like being in an outside hot tub in winter. Have fun but pack some clothes for colder temps (just in case!) or you will have a new Mickey Wardrobe when you come home! : ))

Last year we had some mid 80-degree days the last week of January. DD swam at the Poly just fine. We took breaks mid-day when it was the warmest. We're hoping for the best in two weeks.

Take zip hoodies you can put on over your swimsuits to get you back to your room when you're cold and wet. Have a great trip!

Ive lived in Florida almost my whole life... and if there is one thing I can tell you about Florida weather, its that its UNPREDICTABLE! For instance, last week the high was in the upper 70s... the week before there were days with highs in the low 50s... February is much the same... sometimes warm, sometimes not! Bring the bathing suits and be ready to roll with the punches! Either way, as noted above, the pools are warmed! Ive even seen people swimming in the pools at ASMo when the temp was in the 30s!!! :scared1:

You are asking a very subjective question. Only you can answer that question.

What area of the country are you from?

Are you used to colder winters or milder winters?

Do you have a higher tolerance to cold or a lower tolerance to cold?

Can you tolerate the long walk back to the room, depending on the temperature.

My suggestion is to look at the afternoon/evening temps about two days before you go and only you can decide whether you can tolerate swimming outside and the long walk back to the room dripping wet.

We visited WDW once in early February. Temps were high 60's/low 70's during the day, a bit chillier at night. I tried the hot tub and it was fine; we didn't try the pool; chicken, I guess! ;) There were a fair number of folks using it; it turned out many were a group from Canada! :goodvibes. I guess I need warmer temps to contemplate swimming. Different strokes..... No pun intended!

About 4 years ago my kids were swimming in the POP pool, it was FREEEEZING, and we're from England:scared1: The life guards thought they were mad, as they stood there in ski jackets shivering :rotfl: I of course had to look after the clothes and stuff:rolleyes1

I was at POFQ in Dec 2010 - and there were days that the high was just into the '50s.....and I swam. I had the entire pool and any lounge chair (plus the three lifeguards that looked like they had just arrived from the North Pole) all to myself...:goodvibes
The pools are heated to 82 F (or something like that). I just made sure that I had a sweater to throw on if I needed it and if at night, I took sweat pants to pull on after getting out of the hot tub....I was in building 1 which is about as far from the pool as you can get but I didn't get cold walking back.
Hoping there will be a few swimming days the 1st week of February as well...but even 70 degrees will seem warm compared to what we have here today (wind chill in the -20's):sad2:

It's not the swimming that's the hard part -- it's getting out of the pool :scared1:

We always go in Feb. and we always swim and do the water parks on the warmer days. Night time can be chilly but most days it's very comfortable mid-day. However, this year my DD12 came up with a brilliant idea. She's decided to take her favourite fleece blanket with her for on the plane and after swimming. I'm thinking I may just follow her lead on this :goodvibes

I always advise bringing your swimsuit with you to WDW (they don't take up that much luggage space, do they?)

Florida winters can be capricious to the extreme. Here in Houston, we have weather very similar to Orlando's, except that we're more likely to get freezes. It was very close to freezing on Saturday morning, but today, two days later, we have nice sunny 70s weather.

Crazy people have been swimming each of the last 3 nights. The first 2 nights temps were in the 40's, with steam coming of the water.

I go to Disney every February. I've been in the pool while it's in the lower 40's. Not sure of the layout at POFQ, but at CBR the spa is mere steps away from the pool. Once I'm in the pool, it's warm enough to enjoy it and, after I get out, it feels cold of course, but I simply go sit in the spa for a few minutes before heading back to the room. I get warm enough in the spa to keep me warm all the way back to the room, even when it's in the 40's.

I've gone swimming with snow on the ground.... You do need shoes/flipflops or something on you feet but other than that it's still fun!

Plus I've never felt better than after a good swim in colder weather.

We'll be at POFQ Feb 4th -11th and plan on bringing swimsuits. Now whether we use them or not is another thing. We are true blood southerners and don't do cold weather swimming.:rotfl:

I was at CSR Dec 2010 and had been upgraded to a perfect quiet pool view room in Cabanas 9A. I had to walk around that pool everyday on the way to the bus stop. It was so tempting. I was literally less than a minute from the pool. All I had to do was step out of my room, but it was just too cold for these old southern bones to even think about using it.:rotfl:

DH and I just got back from a week at AKL, and we swam almost every day. It was SO cold out to us, but swimming felt so amazing. Our community pool is NOT heated like Disney's so we haven't swam for a couple months and greatly missed it. The water feels amazing when you're in, but after getting out it's definitely a mad dash to get inside. :lmao: I think the coldest it got to when we were swimming was about 50 degrees...which is winter coat weather to us!

Unless the pool is frozen over - we swim in it. It's very relaxing at the end of the day, for us, to swim. No air temperature would keep us out.

I was born and raised in FL, but I have been living in Maine for the last 3 1/2 years. Before moving up here, I would have to wear a winter coat when it was in the 50s - obviously, swimming would have been out of the question!!! These days, I don't put on an actual coat until it's in the 20s - I might give swimming in February a chance! As others have said, it's really subjective - definitely take your swimsuits with you, just in case - you never know! :confused3
