Swimming in 70 degree weather?

I know the pools are heated...but is it crazy to swim in 70 degree weather in Florida? I know up here in NC, we would never think of doing that.
I am thinking it is going to be in the low 70s when we go. Do you think we could get a day in of swimming?

I think it's a purely personal decision.... I mean in 2010 during the cold snap my husband and child went swimming. I didn't agree with their decision, but who am I to take away their joy? They had fun. That's what matters.

i visited in early march a few years back and it was low 70s, it felt hot to us and weswam several times... we are from upstate ny though and we came to florida from snow!

We were at CBR last week and no way were the pools at 80 degrees!

My kids would swim in that easy. I'd be in sweats wrapped in a blanket.

For me when it is 10 degrees when I leave home and I arrive at WDW in January and it is 72, I am hitting the pool with no reservations. That is called comfortable.

Being in the pool isn't the hard part...it's getting out.

I think everything is relative. Florida feels warm to us in February and we go to the pools and the water parks on our trips. If you have to wear a winter coat while you're there, swimming probably won't work for you.

Yeah, I am with Goofy4Prez, WDW in the winter will always be so much warmer than here at home, that unless its 30 degrees in florida, I am swimming!

Our kids swam at Pop Century one night and it was around 48 degrees. The steam rose off the pool and it was kind of cool. Dh and I sat with our coats on, gloves on, drinking hot chocolate laced with Peppermint Schnapps. Everybody was happy.

When I go in the cooler months, I tend to take really warm cover ups and don't get out of the pool until I am done with swimming. We have always swam, every trip, every month of the year we have been (all months but July) in all kinds of weather!

Kids, do...I don't. Getting out is indeed the problem. I take sweat suits to the pool side and they dry off quickly and put those on and run to the room! Night next week when we will be there look pretty cold and that is pretty much when we swim soooooo.

We plan to tomorrow. We have been in sw Florida and plan on stopping on our way home to Ohio to swim, spend an evening in Dtd, and eat Mickey waffles for breakfast.

It's too cold for me then because I'd be cold when I got out of the pool but if you don't mind it, why not?

One huge difference between the Carolinas and Florida is the humidity. We are from GA and sent down the first week of January and would swim everyday if we had time! It was definitely double shower days....or pool days...

We usually get at least one pool day in during that type of weather. We are from Western NY state, so, like PP have stated, 70 feels very warm. We bring extra towels, cover ups for when we get out of the pool, since it does feel a bit cold then. I would be sure to pack your swimsuits just in case!

It is all relative. We're from Michigan and think nothing of swimming when it is 70 degrees, esp in a heated pool. I'm pretty sure that it was in the high 40s/low 50s for some of my kids' night swims on our last January trip, and while the sprint back to the room was a bit chilly the water was fine. But it is different if you're more used to warm weather - on that trip, my kids were swimming while the lifeguards were in winter coats, hats, gloves, etc.

You are kidding right????? How warm does it have to be for you to go swimming, lol?? We went swimming last December during the cold snap in Florida.

I would not but my DD and DH probably would. I would bring DD some dry clothing to the pool so she could change right away after getting out.

Being from Minnesota and despite having a warmer than average winter (so far); 70 degrees would be a heat wave right now. So no problem with family and me swimming in 70 degree weather.

We swam everyday with the temp in the 70's. The temperature of the pool is 84 degrees so it is warmer than the air temp. It's like stepping into a bath tub. I enjoyed swimming more in Dec than I did in May. In May it feels like your getting in a bucket of ice water. Dec was the opposite. It was really nice.

Exactly this! First thing we did was head for the pool and it was not above 80 outside, I know that. It was fine until the sun went down!

I would. But then here weather in the lower 70's would be considered very good summer weather Guess it depends on what you are used to.

I an going in januari and will most certainly take my bathingsuit with me. The pools are heated after all. I once went swimming in a heated pool while it was snowing, fun except for the few seconds before and after swimming
