Swimming at DLP?

I am leaving to DLP this week for a long weekend break with my two sons. All the DLP hotels were booked but we are in one of their affliated hotels off site, which unfortunately does not have a swimming pool. My kids love swimming and I asked the very very nice man on the DLP booking line if it was possible to simply wander into one of the Disney hotel pools for a quick swim. He was pretty amused at this and didn't seem too worried about my cheek! Anyhow before I bother to pack our swim suits, does anyone know if this is possible, or do you have to sign in or give room numbers or anything. And would I have to pack a towel?

...... my DH seems to remember showing his key for towels at the Sequoia Lodge - I don't personally remember this as it looked too busy for me and so I decided not to swim. Thr pool there is on the small side for such a large resort.
We didn't swim at the Newport Bay so don't know about them either, hopefuly someone else can help with this.

Sometimes you are asked to show resort ID, sometimes you are waved through by hotel staff. With the exception of the Davey Crockett Ranch, none of the DLP hotel pools are worth making mush of an effort for, unless you are a committed swimmer.

Regards

Rob
