I swore I wasnt' even going to start thinkg about our cruise for another year since we're not going until Nov 2006, but alas...

So here's my question - we're taking the 3 day cruise.
DD is 10 now, will be 11 on the cruise

I was thinking about doing the swim with the dolphins at seaworld when we go to WDW this fall, but then realized that maybe it would be better saved for the cruise?
Anyone done both or have comparisons"
Is the cost about the same?
We definitely can't afford to do 2 times.

Thanks
Anne

We haven't done that yet since the kids need to be over 6 at seaworld but I have found out that the cost includes a week's ticket at SW. That seems to be a good bargain, as well as the fact that it is an all day experience versus just a few hours.

The Discovery Cove swim also includes use of Discovery Cove all day including swimming with sting rays, the tropical lagoon, the lazy river and the aviary, and a lunch.

Rpsemont===Blue lagoon dolphin swim in Nassauwhich is what I am assuming you are trying to compare is a short 1-2 hour event. It is very nice and does cost less HOWEVER Discovery Cove is awesome. It is a full day event. It is so much more than just the dolphin swim. My recommendation is spend the extra money and do DC. And yes you do get a Sea World pass with your admission.

Discovery Cove is wonderful.
I would vote for the full day experience (plus the extra days at Sea World) vs a couple of hours off the ship.
Although the actual time with dolphins may be similar.

We've done Discovery Cove in the past, and we're doing it again this year the day after we get off the Magic in September.

I vote for DC over an excursion any day for reasons previously stated (more included, full day versus few hours, etc.).

Thanks for all your input. DD and I have Season Passes to SW (for two) years, even though we only go a couple times a year. DH doesn't care for it that much and while he will do the dolphin swim because I will insisit it's a family event that can't be skipped, he's rather be sitting on a bench in Germany (Epcot) drinking beer LOL! I was thinking by doing it when in port for a day, would save some $. It sound though, like the "trappings" that come with it can really add to the mood and the experience. I'm sure I'd enjoy a day at DC. Is there a swim up bar for DH?

Having done both: definitely SeaWorld.

Anyone know how much discount you get at DC with SW annual pass?
Does it depend on season or just a fixed $?? discount?
We will be going October before 7 night Eastern.

it depends on the type of annual pass - platinum gets better discounts that silver, etc. Funcard holders get no DC discount.

Going off season in October might help you though. Call SW/DC to find out for sure.

Rpsemont: No, there's no swim up bar. I don't think there is any alcohol served of any kind inside DC.
