SWGE possible opening dates?

Possibly one of the most burning questions for us ATM... have there been any semi-reliable hints at a likely opening date for SWGE @ Disneyland?

We have a trip planned (travelling from Australia) for June/July next year. We will be landing at LAX on 23 June and were wondering how close this will be to the opening week (we didn't plan our trip around SWGE - these are just the dates that work best for us).

If it does happen to be at or around opening week, would you expect any restrictions on us visiting the parks (blockouts, etc)?

Cheers in advance for any advice or help!

Okay VIP tour would be worth the cost then?
If you can afford it then yeah I think so. I hate crowds, especially when people start pushing & shoving. Add in all of the impatient stroller pushers & the inexperienced wheelchair/ECV drivers and it’s a nightmare. So I simply won’t renew my AP or go to Disneyland for a year or so after Star Wars Land opens. The only expection would be if we could somehow have a VIP tour to bypass those crowds but that is way out of our budget. All signs currently point to it being open by end of June at the latest.

Yep, June 21 looks most likely. If you are buying regular park tickets, you won't run into blackout dates. If you are counting on using any type of promotional tickets, blackouts around that time are a near certainty.

Disney has still not released the military salute discount offer for Disneyland yet. Speculation is, they are going to put blackout date restrictions related to SWGE in the offer.

No argument the blockouts & calendar point to June 21-22. But until it's official, we should remember they unblocked several AP days in June 2018 on short notice and offered discounted AP friend tickets. A lot of people were caught off-guard and puzzled by this. In hindsight, and now seeing the blockout calendar for Summer 2019, it sure seems like that was a good experiment for 2019 contingency plan if the project is delayed; even if only a week or two.

So they announce blockouts now to be safe. But can probably move very fast on unblocking local & Deluxe AP if needed for delays. They just showed how it's done.

Ugh this is my prediction/plan as well and it's already breaking my heart to think of avoiding DL for that long :(

I’m predicting a June 22 open. The last few years they’ve had the openings on a Saturday not a Friday for new stuff. But it will more than likely open that weekend.

Will see you there also! Will be there from June 23 to July 1. Maybe we can have a get together at the grills or pool area?
