Where is this restaurant on the International drive. We plan to do Ripleys believe or not and Wonderworks is it any where near them? would we be able to walk International drive?

Head up to the top of I drive towards Belz. It's past Wet and Wild and on the left hand side.

It's just off Kirlman road not far past Wet n Wild and well worth a visit

See Hilary's post :)

Thank you Hilary

In answer to your question about walking, you could walk there from Wonderworks but it would be a fair trek (probably about a mile and a half - I could be over-estimating there). DH and I walked from that part of I-Drive to our hotel a couple of times last year and it took a good half hour (our hotel was probably only half way between WW and Sweet Tomatoes)

Sweet Tomatoes is a chain, and there are a few in Orlando as well as plenty of others throughout Florida and the US.

Check out their website for other locations and more details :sunny:

Looks good, how does it work, is it a buffet help your self or do you order from menu. Ime a little worried about orderind from menu as my kids are not too keen on the green stuff, but they do like pasta.

Thanks Marv

its all buffet/serve yourself. The main salad buffet is just inside the entrance, you fill your plate, then get your drinks/pay, then sit down where you like. You can then go up to the other food area for soup, jacket spuds, pasta, pizza etc. You can go to all food areas as much as you want, and most drinks are refillable too. Servers clear your plates (get a clean one each time you go up to the buffet).

Its really informal, great food makes a change from burgers/ribs/fries. Ideal for kids. Great valaue for money.

They have also just started a Sunday brunch menu, which we missed because we left on the Saturday!! It gets really busy on Sunday, queues out the door. Lots of locals seem to eat there, which is a good sign.

Ah, this sounds just perfect tonic to the whatever-with-fries meals I over-eat on in the US.

This will definatly make a change from the usual steak and mix and match food we had last time we went. We were so amazed at the amount of food everywhere but were feeling alittle fed up after a week of the junk.

It will be nice to have the healthy option when i start to feel all slobbed out :rotfl:

About 3 years ago was the first time I went into ST I thought no way will I enjoy this (don't think I had ever eaten a meal without meat)
3 years on I wouldn't visit Orlando without going for at least 1 lunch and 1 Dinner.
Their Mushroom soup is surely the best in the world. Salad is fresh and enjoyable (wouldn't touch salad normally) always 3 fresh pasta's being cooked in front of you. And the chocolate lava cake..... now my mouth is watering.
We were there a couple of weeks ago, lunch for 2 adults and 1 child was $22 (with coupon)+tip. As much as you want to eat and cheaper than BK or Macs.
Will no doubt be there again in August.

I just love Sweet Tomatoes, although I haven't eaten at the one in orlando. I used to have lunch there 2 or 3 times a week when we lived in CA!

Oh yes, Sweet Tomatoes is great. I eat there often for lunch. I have one very close to home here in the suburbs of Ft. Lauderdale.
Ask at your hotel about discount coupons, I get one just about every week in my newspaper. Normally one coupon will discount everyone in your party.

The person assigned to your table will clear dirty dishes, refill your drinks, get you a straw or a napkin, etc. Most people leave $1 or $2 on the table as a tip depending on how much they helped you.

Lots of healthy, satisfying food and not a french fry in sight!

Enjoy! :sunny:

Although I have never had my drinks filled for me, the service is usually very good and leave $3 for the 3 of us. I did observe what other people left last time I was there as us UK travellers usually get knocked for not tipping enough. I was disgusted at the way people from the US were treating the staff and leaving no or $1 tip on the table. One family with 4 children looked like they were feeding in a pig sty, food all over the place. They left without a thank you or a tip.

Ahh, you know, the drink filling may be because I'm sort of a regular and they know I'm not going to leave them a mess or forget to tip them! If they aren't too busy, I guess you could ask. :drinking1

I think $1 per person for a self-serve restaurant is sufficient, unless they go above & beyond for you. I am a 20%+ tipper in a full service place.

It's sad how inconsiderate people can be, leaving a big mess and expecting someone to clean it up for no compensation! :confused3
