I'm with you on getting the half and half. If I fill my own glass (some self serve) that's what I do, or I've even been known to order it half and half.
But before artificial sweeteners were available I usually only drank unsweetened tea as it is just way too hard to dissolve sugar in cold tea.
Sugar actually was not that expensive in Louisiana as they grow it and refine it there. Now there are all of these protection laws etc that make the price artificially higher.
