SWEET TEA... where to get it at WDW

Really? It was there 6 months ago.

We also take a trip to Chick-Fil-A for sweet tea and lemonade.

I don't drink soda. Hate putting sugar into iced tea; it's just not the same. I appreciate the thread b/c I had no idea sweet tea was available in WDW.

Well, I'm a second-generation Floridian and consider myself to be quite Southern, though there are spots of Florida where there are lots of transplants. I've been drinking sweet tea all my life and find they have it at most restaurants if you ask.

Recently I've had it at Columbia Harbor House and at Cosmic Ray's. Don't be afraid to ask even if tea is listed on the menu at all! (For some mysterious reason, Disney sometimes leaves iced tea off the menu when, in fact, they do have it.)

Florida is geographically "south" but not very southern. Since there are so many tourists and northern transplants in Florida, few restaurants will offer sweet tea - those unaccustomed to it often don't like it. It's too sweet for the average tastebuds. :upsidedow

DH is originally from FL and he'll be the first to tell you that FL might be in the south but it certainly is not southern. He instinctively tries to order sweet tea everywhere we go but he was totally unsuccessful at Disney. He did find a tea machine at our resort (I think) but even out of the 4 teas it offered, none were sweet.

You first two people are crazy. South Florida isn't very southern, but I promise that if you say something like that anywhere north of Orlando or even in many more rural parts of south central Florida and you are libel to be shot by whatever gun is in the gunrack of the nearest pickup truck. North Florida is very much Southern, thank you very much, and kindly don't forget it. :thumbsup2 ;)

Most of the CS locations have new drink dispensers that include Gold Peak sweet tea as an option everywhere on property. It is, however, pretty crappy sweat tea. Better than nothing, maybe, but not very good. Some of the TS locations have it and one or two actually have "real" sweet tea (ie brewed and sugar added while the tea is hot to disolve properly) but it is rare. I find the Gold Peak sweet tea to be barely more palatable than China Mist, which is worse than sewer water. So Gold Peak is maybe drainage ditch water, then... :headache:

Thanks for ALL the wonderful tips ..
I love the tea in the room ..
But I will be making a McD's run.. if it's still open. Love the amount you get for .99!
Can't wait til Sept.

I agree with te poster about anything North of Orlando definately being the South...lol. I'm in NW Florida and you can't get any more southern than what we are...lol. Going South in Florida is just like going North, to us anyway...lol. We miss sweet tea in Disney as well. I really don't understand why they don't offer it. It's not that hard to make...lol.

Boil your water with 4 family sized TETLEY tea bags
upon boiling add a pinch of baking soda and let steep a few minutes
Fill a gallon jug 3/4 full of warm water, add 1 1/2 - 2 cups sugar and stir
Pour in the strained tea and stir

Voila...Sweet Tea. I'm sure they can do it on a bigger level. And that Nestea "stuff"...blech! :sad2:

I much prefer putting my own sweetener in my iced tea compared to the already sweet tea :D tho right now i would take either

I'm an Unsweet Tea Drinker and BLEH! That Gold Peak Tea was wretched!! My DH is a Sweet Tea Drinker and he called it Canned Tea the whole time. I don't know what it is about the Gold Peak Tea but it's horrible even in TN. There's just something about One container spitting out sweet tea, Fruit flavored teas, and unsweet tea.
Anyways, we found decent tea at Cosmic Ray's, Yak & Yetti, and Earl of Sandwich. I can't remember where else we found it but it was pretty rare to find the non Gold Peak Tea =(

I guess southern is all a matter of perception. I've been to northern and southern FL and it's all the same to me and that ain't southern. DH actually lived north of Orlando and he still says that FL is not really southern. But whether you consider FL southern or not, I really wish there was more of a variety of drink offerings on property. Not only would DH like real sweet tea but I'd also like to be able to get a Mt. Dew or Dr. Pepper.

When I eat at the Yachtsman' Steakhouse and order Iced Tea, they also bring along a little tray with lemon slices and assorted sweeteners including a 3 or 4 ounce pitcher of simple syrup if Sweet Tea is desired. And I imagine if you make the Iced Tea into Sweet Tea, when they refill the glass they will also refill the pitcher.

I didn't even know that people drank UNsweetened tea until I went to college! :lmao:

same here!! And I still can't figure out WHY anyone would drink unsweetened tea. Have unsuccessfully tried to wean myself to 1/2 sweet, 1/2 unsweet but it's just not worth it!

I've had this sweet tea problem for ages. We took the Keys to the Kingdom tour last year and asked the tour guide. She didn't know but used the radio to call someone about it. Her answer was that the only place on WDW property that brews their own sweat tea (like we southerners, from GA myself, like it) is Columbia Harbor House. I've had it there several times and no where else.

I think it's very important to remember that SweetenED tea and Sweet tea are very different things.

I lived in NC for several years before my Mom would stop giving my DH powdered lipton tea when he asked for sweet tea. :rotfl::rotfl:

I've never found any on Disney property. DD is a proper Southern girl and HATES soda, so she asks for it everywhere. Hope springs eternal but she's always answered with NO.

Also, Gold peak tea is to sweet tea what Nescafe is to Coffee --blech!!!

Right before u hit the Florida line say GA u will find sweet tea. WDW says we don't have sweet tea. You will get so tired of hearing this.

CHH no longer has "homemade" sweet tea. Now, it's Gold Peak. It's not bad, but not "real" sweet tea.

Hearing that about CHH makes me sad. I will miss it when we are there in a couple of weeks!

The one near the All-Stars is opened but I think the tea is $3-$4 not $1 there.
