I just made a reservation at the Swan using my starwood points. For every night that I purchased after the first five, they gave me a free night. Sweet deal! :thumbsup2

Please explain - did you purchase 4 nights on points and get the 5th free? I am asking because I thought you couldn't redeem more than 5 nights on points at a time?
I guess I am just confused by what you said "For every night that I purchased after the first five, they gave me a free night." Did you redeem more than 5 nights on points or did you pay cash for the additional nights?
How many nights total are you staying? Thanks!

Yes, please share a little more detail.

I've already got 5 nights at the Dolphin on points but need two more nights and was thinking of a Disney moderate to save some $. It sounds like your saying I could get my 4 nights on point + 5th free, pay for one night and then get another free nights? Is this Swan only? Where did you find the offer?

Thanks,

From past experience, we have found that you can get as many nights as you have points. You get an additional night if you redeem at least 4 on points.

4 nights would be 40,000 points
5 nights would be 40,000 points (5th night free)
6 nights would be 50,000 points (one night free)

I have never gotten to 10 nights but I would think it would be 80,000 as you should get 2 nights free.

:thumbsup2 How many points do you get for one night. I stayed four nights and only got 4200 points? Whats the dealeo? Just wondering? Thanks.

We just joined the Starwood Preferred Guest program and will be spending 4 nights at a Westin hotel in Texas in April. If we wanted to book our DW trip at the Swan in August, would we get any nights free?

please explain how you accumulate points and how they can be redeemed.

Thanks! :teeth:

It is all based upon your level in the program:

At the base and gold level, you get two points for every dollar you spend at the hotel while the platinum level is 3 points per dollar.

If you have a SPG Amex card you get an additional point for each dollar charged to the card. At the platinum level this would give you 4 points per dollar, 3 at the time of the hotel stay and 1 more on the billing date of the card.

From past experience, anything that ends up on your room bill (except taxes) will be worth a point. If you are at the basic or gold level, you must have spent around 2100 dollars and at the platinum level you would have spent about 1400 dollars.

Redeeming for a free night costs 10,000 points and the fifth night would be free if you used 40,000 points for 4 nights. The most we (me, DW, DD8 and DD5) have done in one stay is 6 nights for 50,000 points. Its a great feeling checking out after a week and having a bill of ZERO if you didn't charge anything at all to your room.

bought 6 nights got 2 free nights? Did you have to use your SPG points for this deal? If so, how many points did you have to use?

Did you pay full regular price for the 6 nights? Or did you get a deal for the 6 nights and were able to get 2 free nights?

Just curious since we may only have 2000 pts. when we go in August.

Does anyone know what "Hotel/Resort Category" is the Disney Swan? The SPG website shows 6 Categories for certain specials.

The Swan and Dolphin are Category 4 hotels - you need 10,000 pts. for a free night.

Any idea how many SPG points to get an upgraded room per night?

Any, is there a time limit from when you earn the points to when you can use them? I'd like to use them on the same trip as I'm earning them - probably impossible I know!

I believe there has to be some "activity" in your Starwood account (either points earned or redeemed) in a 12-month period or you will lose your Starpoints. The points you earn for a hotel stay aren't credited to your account until several days AFTER checkout.
